Hey guys, congrats on your hire. You are getting a fantastic football coach (and staff). I have a few resources on his offense that you guys might want to take a look at.

His offense looks extremely complicated to a defense, yet, is incredibly simple and easy to understand. It is almost Delaware Wing-T in the sense that you have all sorts of motion (eye candy). Only real downside is that you need a QB who is at least a threat to run and much of the run game depends on the QB keeping an unblocked end honest.

I am a high school coach back in South Carolina and have had the pleasure of meeting Morris and a few of his assistants. If you guys have any questions, ask away!

What's the name of the direct snap tip pass series to the reversing receiver that worked so well against South Carolina. I know Tulsa ran that a bunch. Really pads your QBs passing percentage/yards

Going to take me a while to read all that, but awesome site!

I am not terribly familiar with Clemson (but Beat OU!) so I learned quite a bit about Morris' offense just from reading a couple of articles. I didn't know that some of the rushing attack had its roots in the Wing-T. Watching some of those plays made high school come crashing back... "I remember that play!"

This is going to be so much fun.

That's crazy. I had to watch each play before I could follow the ball. It looked like on the last play in the video the QB is following the runner like he was expecting an option pitch from the RB. More likely QB just following play.

A long way from sweep left, sweep right.

It's a Jet sweep. Little bit different up front that your old toss sweep and actually is blocked similar to your inside zone read. Every lineman has a zone that they are responsible for, not a man. We call it running a "track." Unlike inside zone, you take a crossover step that makes your track wider. The backside end is unblocked as there is no way in Hell that he is making the play. Your TB or HB can be a lead blocker and your jet sweep guy creates a bad match up and can give you numbers on the perimeter.

We killed SC with this because they suck at DE. The trick to defending a play like this is setting the edge. That simply means that the first defender needs to attack the guy trying to block him up field. He's gotta ignore the ball carrier for the time being. This prevents the ball carrier from turning up field and allows your more athletic linebackers and DB's to rally to the ball.

However, if they are setting the edge and flowing outside...you have a simple solution. Show jet sweep action and run inside. No answer. I hope that made sense!

Absolutely makes sense. I was just laughing because 34 years ago, when it was a lot simpler, we called the sweep 2-79 to the flanker side and 2-78 to the WR side. Guard usually pulling. The play's have evolved. To bad we did not have anything like a Jet sweep and the blocking schemes. Now that would have been fun

Oh, I don't know if there is an article about this, but you guys will see lots of receiver screens (now and bubble screens). The way these are worked in is brilliant. Whenever he calls a run play(of any kind) it is tagged with a screen back side. So a play call might be something like Right trap Now. The QB simply looks at the alignment of the defenders back side. If they are playing soft or at a certain leverage he will simply throw the screen. If not they will stick with the run play. This makes life VERY difficult on a defense. The only sure fire way to prevent the screens is to press...but by doing that you run the risk of getting beat deep.
