McMurphy - SMU BOR report about Memphis/UC to B12 is wrong..

Maybe I am in the dark here, but what the heck is McMustache talking about? SMU BOR report that said UC.UM were going to the B12? What kind of report is that, and why would we say that?

haha how funny would it be if someone read ponyfans and then told someone else about the post re Memphis and Cinci..someone else responded with "really ? who said that again?" and the reply was "ah...where was it..oh yeah, an SMU board"....and the person, being disconnected, didnt think 'message board' but thought hmm...what board? oh, board of regents.

We dont even have a board of regents lol

"A Big12 AD was called today by someone at SMU and was told that SMU BOR announced in meeting that B12 adding Memphis & Cincy and was wondering if that was true"

I assume McMurphy means BOT, not BOR

Big 12 board of regents, not SMU.
Someone in the hilltop allegedly called an AD from a Big 12 school (probably OU, BU or TCU) and the AD told SMU that their conference board of regents said Cincy and Memphis were in.

I guess it's all fine and well that McMurphy has denials from so many Big 12 ADs and the like but does anyone really think they would happily tell him what their potential expansion plans are right now?

Remember when Texas/DeLoss mouthpiece Chip Brown kept saying that any rumors A&M was leaving for the SEC were false and was claiming he got that info from A&M officials?

"There is no truth to reports that Texas A&M will join the SEC in the spring of 2012. None." "For all the Aggies wondering who my sources are on this, they are sources at the highest level of your school."

Yea... the very next day A&M announced they were moving.

I know someone who was very involved in all of the run up to the Aggie move. I am 100% sure that it caught everyone by surprise as the Aggies left.

SMU should drop TCU and Baylor from its schedule and go play someone from the ACC/Big Ten/Pac 12. Basketball opened the way for us and I did not miss them one bit. The Big 12* (10 schools) want nothing to do with us and those other conferences would love to play a game here. Get those schools a game here, build the program's exposure outside Texas. Use NTSU and Houston as our Texas rivalry games.

Screw the Big 12.

If A&M could ever get out of their JerryWorld deal w/Arky I wouldn't be surprised if they'd want another multi game home and home series.

A&M or Arky would be open to keep playing us. So does the entire SEC east, ACC, Pac 12, Big Ten. Get Maryland to come here for a game, Cal, Stanford, USC. They recruit here a lot and rarely play here if ever.

Arkansas will not play another game in Dallas with the A&M game under contract. And they just renewed for 10 years.

Not exactly. It wasn't extended b/c the schools love the deal (at least on the A&M side anyway). When A&M moved to the SEC they lost had to replace two OOC games for the next several years. This was because the Big 12 had moved to 9 conference games with the SEC only having 8 as well as the Arkansas game turning into a conference match up.

Because of all this, A&M had the very real possibility of only having 4 home games their first year in the SEC. To avoid that they had to play two FCS teams at home and also had to restructure their JerryWorld deal. Kind old Jerry saw it in his heart to allow A&M/Arkansas to be a home and home for the Aggies first two years of the SEC but only if A&M and Arky agreed to extend the deal from 2018 to 2024. :roll:

Basically he let A&M out of the deal for two years in exchange for four more games plus the two he was missing out on.

TCU plays a home and home with Arkansas 2016 and 2017.

That game was set when A&M and Ark had decided not to play in Dallas anymore and do home and home. That was when I was hoping we could work a deal with them but they chose Froggie. After a year they determined they would sign a new 10 year deal with Aggie.
