Football Staff, as a whole

I feel like I have heard many positive comments about every HCCM hire... what are your collective thoughts on the staff?

My feeling is wondering who the strength coach is. He will spend more time with the kids the coaches due to rules salad.

fifty- agree- the S&C coach will be very important. Other than that I have been impressed with what 'the Chad' has done. Like most good executives he is surrounding himself with people that he knows and can trust.

Agree. Hoping the Kaz Kazadi rumors are true!

Overall, happy with the offensive and defensive knowledge coming our way. Was still hoping for a ST powerhouse coach to give us that extra advantage.

June also surrounded himself with guys he could trust also - they were just the wrong ones.

I think this staff looks very hard charging - which is great. We can expect some learning on the job I think, which might frustrate some. Hope we get our RB coach, and hope we get a strength and ST coach that is impressive. Those are key elements to the team. If we can close out those last few in a similar way, it feels like we could have something special.

Ready for some more commitments. I know that is unreasonable since he has been on the job about a week - but we are so starved for recruiting news we are on the edge of our seat.

Would like an experienced ST coach and a high octane hard core SC coach. (and of course Mathis). Do that and this staff is A+.

I think one of the most encouraging signs was that they've hired a more X's and O's oriented helper for Van Malone (that he's worked with before). They recognized a potential weakness, and promptly hired to plug that hole.

I'm encouraged.

I think Mathis is already on staff. IIRC he was doing some recruiting visits the other day.

Wish our pockets were deep enough for a John Baxter type at ST. I see he's available. Mathis and Kazadi together would be all the high octane/hard core one team would need!

How about a 2-1. Go get Kent Johnston the S&C for the San Diego Chargers who's son Clay is a SR LB from Abilene Wylie and recently committed to Baylor and was offered by other BCS's and SMU early. Dad would love to get back to Dallas, mom is close friends with Randy Ross (still on CM staff as Dir of Football Operations) from their days at Alabama. Both parents wanted him to choose SMU (Dad coached with Bert Hill in Miami), but they let Clay decide. Kid is a STUD.

coaching staffs tend to take on the personality of their leader. JJ had a "laid back" bunch. Chad's guys are going to be "high motor". Team is in for a bit of a culture shock. Hope they are ready and get on board
