Re: CongratsHeard Patterson on ESPN radio today and give him credit for a classy reaction...unlike Briles whining at Baylor. I really don't have any problem with how the final 4 shook out and love the matchups, but admit I would love to know how Baylor & TCU might have fared against the big boys. Patterson talked about how they blew that Baylor game and could have gone undefeated to EARN their way in. Talked about how deserving the 4 teams in are and that TCU is still building their program so they can some day have the same respect the more established programs do. He mentioned they have a great opportunity against a quality SEC team in their bowl. Let's all remember that Ole Miss is the only team that beat Alabama this year. Baylor also has a great bowl opportunity.
I just don't want to hear the "let down" excuse f they both get whipped in their bowls. That would just reinforce the opinions of those who don't feel TCU & Baylor belong. I will add that if Texas was in Baylor's position, we would be in full meltdown mode right now. There is no doubt in my mind the committee screwed up when they moved TCU to #3 based on their thumping Texas on national TV. Again...it gets back to "too much respect for Texas"
Re: CongratsLooks like he got Larry's notes from the tourny snub and just followed them. Good move. Nothing to be gained by whining at this point. Horse left the barn. Win your games and you have no issue.
Re: Congrats
Patterson also say he does not believe in style points. He may have to in the future. I was at almost all of TCU's home games this year and there were a number of games he could have run the score up much higher, but chose to play his 2nd and 3rd string players starting early in the 4th quarter instead. We like to make fun of GP, but he is a damn good coach from what I've seen. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: CongratsHe gets ole miss in a bowl. I think that will be the best game of bowl season barring the title game. Ole miss is dominant...too bad treadwell went down.
Re: Congrats
Robert Nkemdiche can't wait to give Boykin a big, sloppy, back breaking hug....
Re: CongratsI think TCU matches up very well ole miss. Bo wallace has a giant bag. TCU defense will shut down ole miss. I think frogs win by 14-17.
Re: CongratsBeware the SEC.
Re: Congrats
PK, are you a closet Frog? ![]()
Re: Congrats
Beware of what? Another overconfident Big XII-II team that doesn't have the talent that a mid level SEC team has? A little hint: Ole Miss has 4 top 25 recruiting classes in the last 5 years... TCU has never had a top 25 recruiting class.
Re: Congrats
And yet, TCU finished the season number 6 in the country. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Congrats
And? Texas Tech, like many of the overrated Big XII-II teams in the past, was ranked #8 in the nation going into the 2009 Cotton Bowl against Ole Miss (a game where Ole Miss had roughly 50% of the crowd in Sand Aggie's home state)... they lost 47-34 to the #20 team in the nation. The real "beware" here: Beware of the fact that highly ranked Big XII-II teams are often ranked higher than they really should be.
Re: Congrats
I doubt anyone that matters is at all over-confident on the TCU side.
Re: Congrats
I think you are spot-on. You will either get "good Bo" or "bad Bo"...if the former, TCU will win by three or four scores. If the latter 10 points. Ole Miss's defense is great, but beat up from some tough games this year. Even accounting for the break, they still will not be at September strength. Again, as it pains me to say RF, nice year. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Congrats
Appreciate it.
Re: Congrats
My wife is a TCU grad and, as a result, we have some generous Frog friends who include us in their game day activities. We get to sit in a very nice suite, free tickets, free parking pass, free food and drinks...why not go to the games? Our schedules worked out that in most cases we were playing out of town or on a bye when TCU had a home game. The game atmosphere is pretty awesome at TCU. 3,000 to 4,000 students sitting between the two 10 yard lines right behind the visiting team's bench. No silly cartoon car races on the jumbotron. No mini cheerleader kids. Some of our AD staff needs to visit some of TCU's games and get a clue for game day presentation. BTW, it's a lot of fun when the home team wins and everyone is happy. ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S.
