Let's see- 6 wins in 7 seasons = how many per year? or a little over $2 mil per win. Good god I hope I get a better ROI than that on my investments.

Good article. And then we have this troll Billy Embody who is still obviously drinking the JJ koolaid and pimping for his friend. Who is he? If he is with Scout or Rivals I would cancel my subscription immediately. Here is the response he tweeted last night to another tweet about JJ.

What NFL players did JJ recruit? He inherited most and the others were already in the recruiting pipeline when he took over.

Thompson was June's, he flipped him from Vanderbilt shortly before signing day in 2008.

Look, all he was saying (I had a back and forth with him) is that Jones wasn't a completely empty suit...at least until ASU. If you read the 2-3 posts together from that conversation, he was basically stating that Jones had a system that worked to improve the teams record for a few seasons, get to some weak bowls, and send players that primarily were holdovers from the prior regime to the NFL...all without recruiting. Then, his laziness and ego showed itself, he refused to change his system to match the parts, and refused to recruit to change the parts. It wasn't a ringing support of the impact of Jones, but more a tacit acceptance that 2011 SMU was better than 2007, and 2014 was horrible...and both were direct results of his interaction with the team as coach.

The true Jones backers have gone into hibernation. We are now all chasing ghosts in the night...let's let it go.

Now, let's track those recruits (a word not found in the abridged JJ dictionary), keep tabs on the S&C coach hiring (has it been made public and official yet?), and get ready for signing day and spring practice and everything in between that must be done by the program and the team and the fans to ensure that the 2015 Mustangs walk onto the field for their first home game with a powerful homefield advantage provided by 30K+ screaming Pony fans!

Zach Line, Garret Gilbert and Margus Hunt all count as June Jones products because that is part of what he does (bring in players thanks to his NFL contacts). While his recruiting was atrocious you do not need to make things up to make him look bad. 2013 and 2014 are exhibit A and B for that. That said, knowing everything that happened I would still take the 7 seasons he gave us as we went to 4 straight bowl games after close to 20 seasons of losing. Let's hope Chad Morris lives up to the hype and puts us in another stratosphere.

I agree with Margus Hunt. Once again Zach Line wad not a JJ recruit. He was a no offer recruit whose tape had to be sent to him. GG is also not in the NFL anymore. I like GG but I cannot credit JJ with this considering a P5 has been was looking for the most pass heavy local school.

If Zach was not a JJ recruit how did he make it to SMU? Look, his recruiting was a disaster, but he relies on the Zach Lines, Shawnbrey McNeals, and Garrett Gilberts to get it done.

Are you complaining about Larry Brown bringing in Nic Moore and Markus Kennedy? Nic Moore was not a Larry Brown recruit. He was a transfer that came with Tim Jankovich. Kennedy was a transfer so he doesn't count either. Ryan Manuel and Cannen Cunningham were already here thanks to Doherty. So who has Larry Brown brought? Sterling Brown, Keith Frazier, and Ben Moore? Martin, Moreira, and Emelogu were transfers so I suppose they don't count either.
