A lot wrong with that list, both high and low.

The BW survey is largely a customer satisfaction poll. BW surveys the latest graduating class from each of the top schools, along with the companies that essentially make the MBA market and recruit the vast majority of graduates. A third component, purporting to measure faculty research, accounts for 10 percent of the methodology.

SMU Cox was #12 in 2010. Rice was #29 that year and A&M was #30.
UH is too low. Better GMATs than Tech. Baylor/TCU are quite small.

Over the last five years, 13 out of 25 schools in the second half of the Top 50 have shown a decline in average GMAT scores while nine are up. The majority of schools in the top 25 have had increases. Rice and UT had had eight and nine point GMAT increases between 2009 and 2013. I believe Cox's have been trending up as well, at least during that time period. However, the bigger class size a few years ago may have hurt the statistics.

Duke doesn't even think that they are #1 on the list.

IMO - the only thing that matters is our ranking in Texas. With easy access to the enormous DFW Job market, Cox should be ranked ahead of UT.

UT beats us with all their doctoral programs. It will hard to pass them unless we can match that, percentage wise.

B School is about getting a good job. While Austin is a great place (I am a UT Grad), it doesn't have a big enough economy to absorb the number of mba's Dallas does.

Looks like Vandy has four current PhD students.

What difference does that make in the opinions of recent MBA graduates and the companies that employ those MBAs?

There are plenty of employers wanting to hire UT grads in Dallas and Houston, as well as Austin. It will come down to perceived value from prospective applicants and realized relative value from employers of both programs. If my Cox students are outperforming the McCombs' grads, I'll get more from Cox.

Do most Cox FT MBAs come from Texas?

The majority of SMU & UT grads will start their careers in Texas. Why? Geography and Networking.
While New York, Boston, California employers will hire from both schools, they aren't going to spend enormous amounts of time/money recruiting there.

Will some students go to Wall Street? Absolutely. Just not in huge numbers.

The top is bogus. Duke first and HBS 8th is enough to disregard.
