Re: #PonyUPTempoYes the crowds were much bigger than that. The media has always been trying to take us down!

Re: #PonyUPTempoI attended them also and we had some big crowds that consisted of a lot of Aggies, a lot of Razorbacks, etc.

Re: #PonyUPTempoSo you are saying that now more than twice as many don't come to our games.

Re: #PonyUPTempoPopulation has doubled and the popularity and visibility of college football is about 100000x what it was in 1982. If we played an SWC type of schedule and we were ranked in the Top 10 you could expand Ford to 45K and we'd sell out every single game.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: #PonyUPTempoIf we get even 1 or 2 4+ star guys straight outta hs (failed transfers dont count) I will start chugging kool aid that we can get back up to this.
Re: #PonyUPTempoThere is no correlation between population and college football attendance especially with schools in big cities and NFL franchises. Private school is the final clincher. I've never understood how anyone could make that argument when the facts are so crystal clear
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: #PonyUPTempoIn fact its a direct reverse correlation as teams especially private schools, have a difficult time drawing in big Metro area's as there is so much competition for the entertainment dollar with events and other sports in a big area like DFW, unless you have a good product and National attention.
Re: #PonyUPTempoNo correlation with actual attendance, but it is a larger pool of potential attendance. If you figure a specific % of population you could get to games with effective marketing you now have twice as many. Not saying it is easy, just that it is possible to fill Ford with smart marketing and sustained success "I think Couchem is right."

Re: #PonyUPTempoDallas did not grow from 2000-2010 (Census figures). Meanwhile, some cities surrounding Dallas almost doubled in population.
#PonyUPTempoOur core market audience hasn't really grown, as some would have you believe. The 15k that came 30 miles from Allenfir a HS semifinal shouldn't be our focus. They aren't coming back for a college game. Might as well hope folks from Waco or Ft Worth show up.
