Good to confirm, but that doesn't mean there will be a SMU/Baylor game on 9/5!

Re: Baylor game gone?Personally, I am all for scheduling games we have a better chance to win. The "lets kick ourselves in the balls 3-4 times" before conference play has got to stop. Every coach we have had the last 20 years had hated our scheduling most years. We need to schedule for where we are, then we can start scheduling for where we want to be.
I understand that is not popular around here but we need to get 6 wins and go to a bowl and have practices in December.
Re: Baylor game gone?
I agree with you to some extent. Yes it's insane to schedule death row for your OOC but I don't think that means we need Idaho, New Mexico State, SFA, and Old Dominion on the schedule. Keep 2 tough regional games (tcu, aggie) as a measuring stick. Then add a fcs team to either kick around or if you want a run for your money schedule a NDSU or SHSU and then a sub par FBS team So for an ooc maybe something like Central Arkansas TCU AGGY Middle Tennesse That's a pretty good schedule. but saying all of that, it wouldn't be "kick ourselves in the balls 3-4 times" if Jones had spent time developing teams to compete with all the old SWC instead of being a doormat and complaining about no IPF. These tough schedules was a perfect storm to make a BCS run as it provided enough top ranked teams to give a non-pf team credibility like Boise and TCU never had but instead of seeing an opportunity, JJ saw an excuse.

Any directional school Hart can find. #HammerDown
Re: Baylor game gone?we need to play and beat Baylor. I can't imagine the new coach wouldn't want to try.

Re: Baylor game gone?I like playing Baylor, TCU & UNT to put a little more local flavor on the schedule. When Baylor series comes to an end, let's hope we still have TCU to go along with UNT for the next several years. Would not mind adding a home/home series with a SunBelt team so we have a schedule that includes 1 or 2 Big XII, a CUSA and a SunBelt opponent to keep it local. We should be playing at least 2 P5 teams every year, so when we have only TCU in any given year, take a road game against another P5 (like the Michigan game) that pays well...and that means playing in venues that pack in 80-100k for their games
Re: Baylor game gone?Of course there is an article on this board about Memphis football. What is different with the football schedule when Fuente started at Memphis? FCS team on schedule each year of Fuente's tenure.
Re: Baylor game gone? The timeline the Baylor site is claiming doesn't really jive. They expect us to believe that Tennessee was able to get a H&H lined up with Baylor only for the SEC to nix it and then replace UAB a second time with Bowling Green in the span of a week? Yea right. Never mind that it would make no sense for Tennessee to want to play Baylor and OU back to back.
Re: Baylor game gone? This whole thing is bizarre, not believing the SEC aspect at all - that rumor had to be started on a blog.
Re: Baylor game gone?
Baylor has shown its rear-end throughout the course of this football season. Whining about the CFP and their ranking, hiring a PR firm, this scheduling "story", etc...really has not helped Baylor's reputation.
Re: Baylor game gone?Well said, RF...Baylor has shown over and over again both regionally and to the nation that they are a group of self-serving hypocrites. I would cheer for any team in the nation over them.
While not this season, let's not forget this: http://blog.chron.com/sportsjustice/201 ... cu-and-uh/ Granted, they have a new stadium now, but I'm not sure Baylor would have done any better than SMU from the breakup of the SWC to the late-2000s had they not lucked into the Big 12, where they served reliably as a doormat during that time.
