Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?I always felt it was the weakest one and tonight is proving that out. Believe it will continue against the other top conferences.
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?Let's see how Baylor does against MSU before we call the Big 10 a better conference than the Big Xii...but right now it looks pretty close
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?Big10 is worse. But big 12 is definately fourth
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football? The hate for the b12 on this board is absurd. Imo it's a better conference than all except for the sec n maybe the pac ten. Tcu and Baylor will destroy their games
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?I think it's overrated. It's all subjective but the bowls will help prove some arguments. IMO the b12 is far below the sec and also below the pac10 amd ACC. Only debate is with the b10.
I think bama will destroy osu but they would destroy any team in the b12 as well. Msu vs baylor will be a better barometer, and this would me the b12 co champ against a msu team that lost to osu at their place. Needless to say I think osu is top to bottom better than any team in the b12 as well.
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football? The good Big XII teams haven't even played yet!
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football? If you're saying there are only 3 good teams in the conference than it IS the worst p5 conference. The strength of a conference is also defined by the the teams in the middle of the pack. It's the strength from top to bottom not just one or two teams. Texas was 5-4 in their conference. Arkansas was 2-6. See the score now.
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?
I don't see it. 3 games today and, in every one, the Big XII team involved was physically dominated from the start. It's a small sample size to be sure but, based on watching Big XII teams for several years, it's just further confirmation of something I've long thought about the Big XII - the league is SOFT... they just can't deal with teams that are more physical while being just as big and fast.
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?
Newsflash! Big, fast & physical beats big & fast.
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?Always great to see Texas put on a historically dismal performance.

Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football? From the bowl games the big 12 is certainly struggling right now. That said bowl games are a pretty poor way of judging. How a team plays after having almost a month off in a game that is completely meaningless and proceeded by a week of vacation where they feed you and give you gifts is not a good test. If you really wanted to gauge how a conference was versus another conference you would schedule conference challanges like they do in basketball around week 9-11 of the season. Imagine instead of every team in the SEC playing the cupcake non-conference they schedule late in the year they played a challenge against the Big 12?
Personally I think a big problem with college football in general is how much individual teams are evaluated based on perceptions of their conference. I can't stand how Alabama is given a huge amount of credit for beating mediocre teams like A&M, SC, and TENN. While TCU is punished for beating WVA, Tech, and Texas.
Re: Is the B12 the worst P5 conference in football?I agree with your last statement on conferences. Same goes in Basketball as we know all too well.
The issue here is how bad UT and OU got beat. In their minds and the TV exec's they are the Big Xii. The fact that those two programs got stomped by middle rung ACC and SEC programs adds to the calamity of the losses. But do not fret for the Big XII, as soon as UT and OU win two or three non conference games to start next season, they will be right back in the top 25 - top 10, whether they actually deserve it or not. As far as the rest of the Big XII, no one else cares about them. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
