Well, at least the hot cheerleader was there tonight, right?

LA_Mustang wrote:That was probably the best end of the year crowd at an SMU basketball game in my adult life. BTW, if you're inferring that the crowds at UCF and ECU were better, you're clueless.
I only saw UConn and Memphis, and to be fair, they have a bit more of a basketball tradition than us. But, I still think SMU needs to step it up on their end. Just my opinion. And, of course, it's a lot better than the 500 we would have had four years ago for the same game, but it was about a quarter of the price then too.

I have been pretty disappointed in the crowds so far. I really thought things had changed. But next Thursday I can't imagine it not being full tilt 100% from everyone!

Missing the Tourney hurt us, set us back a step attendance-wise. We'll be fine since this team is built for the long haul and Moody is such a fantastic experience. Not worried.

They were so complimentary of Moody, our team, our fans and our beer (the fact that we sell beer). They were very impressed. Kinda made me proud.
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Not sure if serious. I could not believe what I saw in Moody tonight. After watching American basketball all day and seeing full stands, spirit squads, and bands, I was so excited to be back in Moody tonight. Then, SMU caps the day on ESPN with about 70% capacity and seven whole cheerleaders. I realize SMU can't do much about the fans, but how can we not have a full contingent of cheerleaders and a pom squad like the other American schools today? I'm not even going to touch the alumni band since that is always a sensitive subject, but the other American schools appeared to have bands of actual students today. Credit to the spirit squad members who were there (at least seven cheerleaders is an improvement over the FOUR we had Monday), but if SMU wants to double our ticket prices and charge us like our "peer schools", they better start delivering an atmosphere like our "peer schools". I will give SMU a pass for Monday since it was a D2 game and still technically Christmas weekend, but it's conference season now. Come on. Pony Up!
So you want all the spirit students to fly in on Dec. 31, fly back home, and then come back to school when classes start Jan. 16?

Doesn't seem to be a problem at other schools that take athletics seriously. Maybe we need more Dallas-based members, but to only have seven spirit squad members (plus maybe five? of the band members) at the first conference home game is just embarrassing for a school striving for legitimacy.

Does anyone actually look at those people anyway? Personally I watch the game.
