I hate a lot of teams and their obnoxious fans while never having set foot in their lousy state.

Ah yes, bigoted as well as uninformed.

P.S. you might want to start using spell checker- your spelling is as bad as your opinions.

I have to say Red, with absolutely no disrespect to you or OSU, everyone to whom I have ever asked who has been to a game at OSU has said the fans there are the worst ever. Me personally would say Arkansas fans are the worst I have seen but I have never experienced OSU.

I can say from first hand experience that they are indeed the most obnoxious fans. Attended a game at Northwestern (which had mostly OSU fans in the stands). Several of them were rude, arrogant, drunk of out their mind losers. One of them wouldn't shut up about how he wanted to hump the Hannibal wildcat statue.

Arkansas sets a very high bar. Tried to tip over the smu band bus in about 1970.
Osu must be very obnoxious (correct spelling).

Over the years I have probably attended over 20 games at the 'shoe and have never seen the issues that some of you mention. Yes, their fans are rabid but I doubt if they are any worse than aggies, razorbacks or tortilla throwers. Obviously we all have our own opinions. I am assuming that you have never seen a drunk or two at the 'vard or at one of our home games?

Pony81 wrote:I was talking with a UT friend of mine ( who is extremely wired in) about the UT loss to Arkansas. He and I agreed that it looked a lot like the arse whipping they took from Miami in the '92 ( I think that was the year) Cotton Bowl. Many UT fans and administrators took that loss as a wake up call that the SWC wasn't preparing the team to play against National Powers and UT needed to stop playing perennial weak teams like Rice, TCU, SMU.

My friend and I concluded that - while UT certainly can't talk smack against BU / TCU ect - that UT sees the Big XII as SWC 2.0. Without A&M and Nebraska the league has lost its luster and the national profile to bring great teams to Austin.

I think OU thinks the same thing about their situation.

UT chased the money with the LHN and the Big XII but they see now that they're not getting better nor are their fans excited about the games. The Big XII is a nice regional conference with out the national profile of an SEC,PAC 12 or Big 10.
So look for UT to Work out a deal with ESPN to shelve LHN and move to the PAC 12 and for OU to move to the SEC. I think they would keep the UT/OU game on the schedule. These moves would raise their profile and bring great games to their stadiums. Plus ESPN would love it.
The Big XII will back fill with SMU and UH .
I could see this move happening within the next 2-3 years. I understand that the BIG XII GOR aren't as iron clad commitments as people think.
We also concluded that UT wouldn't need to bring along TTU to the PAC 12 as A&M was able to break free without bringing baggage with them. OU and OSU not sure about that dynamic but I can't see OU staying in the Big XII if UT leaves - even if it means abandoning OSU.

UT has no particular interest in a strong Big 12. If they had been in TCU or Baylor's position at the end of the year they would have been in the Final Four. A lot of people are saying that the Big 12 needs to go to 12 teams, but my long time UT booster friends down here want a short season and are terrified by championship games. They believe that over the long haul they should be in a regular position to make the final four if they can just make it past OU. Arkansas and A&M are gone, as is Nebraska which proved to be a major pain in the neck to the Horns. UT has the money, fan base, and political clout to make the Final Four if they can just win.

Fair enough. People get drunk and don't behave well sometimes. But a lot of those OSU fans could have acted with way more class. They went to the National Championship game that year and were blowing out a losing Northwestern team that was no match for them, yet they were insulting throughout the game.

Anyway, glad to see they just fumbled the ball against Alabama.

Wishful thinking that OSU fans are being obnoxious doesn't make it true. Having been to many Buckeyes games home and away, I find them passionate, but hardly obnoxious.

My grandfather was an aggie, so I always had a soft spot in my heart for them and defended them to my ut friends. However, since my exposure first-hand to the whoops and gyrations over the last few years, I would put them at the top of my list of most annoying.

My opinion comes from four seperate friends who have attended OSU games, all of which said they will root against them the rest of their lives since their fans were so bad. Unusually high number of rude and foul mouthed people. Three of them had young kids with them. None of them are the sensitive types I take that as a big enough sampling to come to my opinion. You can't pretend it's not true - there are waaaay too many people who have had the same experience.

Seen OSU play and live in Philly. The two groups of people remind me of each other. Boorish, vulgar, obscene, like to throw things...just a few observations. There is a difference between passionate support and classless exhibitions.

As a reminder, and I do not like the guy, but please look at the Herbstreit issue from a while back. Ohio kid, played for OSU, but works for ESPN so he has to seem at least a little objective. Doesn't go 110% in support of all things OSU, and ends up moving his family because of the quantity of death threats he received from OSU fans.

Hell, their most beloved coach ever punched an opposition player on the field.
