I'm glad Dallas won. I think the refs helped Detroit more than Dallas.
It's always fun to beat Highland Park! (Stafford in this case).

Always amusing when Mike Pereira is wronged which happens about 66% of the time.

That's the only weird part. There were about 5 penalties on that play and none were enforced. If the ball was better thrown and not into the defenders back I believe they call PI. But lots of close calls against the boys, too, so they found a way to win despite getting way outplayed.

Nice to see the fanbase of a team other than the one I'm pulling for feel like they got shafted for once

Re: Beasley
I think the LB on the play held his arms out to the side to indicate he was not face guarding and not intentionally making contact. That caused one of the officials to overrule the original call.
Also, if you watch the replay, the offensive player had his fingers in the LB's facemask when the ball was in the air. I think in the end, they just let them play.
The Detroit corners were super physical with Dez all game. They were allowing physical play the whole time, so that call would have been inconsistent with the reffing the rest of the game.

Re: Beasley
Why wasn't Dez flagged for coming on the field and arguing the call with his helmet off? The whole sequence was an officiating disaster

Seriously, we might have the least constructive group of famous football alumni:
ED- total [deleted], never wanted to be at SMU in the first place but only came here for the $$$ and his grandma, and now loudly trashes us in the media for reasons that have no basis in fact
Craig James- nice guy and loves SMU but is hated by pretty much everyone outside of SMU
Beasley- publicly trashes SMU on the internet after JJ's resignation
Agree with you in a way. Looking forward to that next generation of high profile lettermen that ignite institutional pride.
How about you look to Denver this weekend and take a deep breath. The others will come back...but we have one current headlining WR who is doing it right and bringing positive attention to us. Also, with the number of SMU mentions that Beasley got today, pretty sure he hit about 99% worth of people who have no idea what he said on Twitter, so it is a positive.

There is no such thing as faceguarding in the NFL. Right on for the contact, with the WR initiating contact with the grasp of the facemask while pushing off with an extended arm. Could have been called offensive too.
Re: Beasley
Doesn't the defensive player have to turn back and make an effort to at least act like he's making a play on the ball? He has a right to the ball, but that guy today didn't look back for the ball. It was a ridiculous non-call, and picking up the flag without an explanation? Never seen it happen before.

Only has to have turned around if incidental contact is made. If the defensive player doesn't make contact with the offensive player, no need for him to have turned around.

I thought this was the case but it is not. In college you do have to look back, NFL no. I had it backwards in my recall until being corrected.

Re: Beasley
Even if Detroit was jipped on that call (and I don't think they were), the first half calls/no calls were incredibly biased against Dallas so I'll call that even.
