LB could, and should, leave. No point in dealing with this nonsense anymore. He can go wherever he wants without the constant worry if he's going to lose all his contributors during the season. There is no excuse for this. SMU should know more about what it takes to have an actual competitive program.

Exactly what my mind went to for worst-case scenarios. There truly is no excuse - other schools with better basketball teams and more rigorous academics can make it work. Why can't we??

I posted back in early December that this could go from bad to worse and got the "sky is falling" reactions. This is exactly what I meant by worse.

http://ponyfans.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=75966&start=105#p1086069

However - I was wrong about MK (I thought he was out). I had some strong sources on that one. The fact that MK returned makes me believe that SMU gets it.

With that happening, I actually now believe that KF will make it too.

The KF tweet this morning supports that.

Also - I honestly think that some of the "experts" who tweet info about our program get some of their info from this message board. I have seen unfounded rumors that started on this board then be tweeted out by those "experts". A vicious cycle.

Just my 2 cents on this.

Let's hope so.

Keith's next employer after SMU should be the NBA.

He will be a monster if he gets another year under Brown.

I agree and hope he does stay for the full four. If his improvement is linear, he will be one superstar by the time he is a senior.

Assuming he is academically eligible, he will stay all four years. He will look at the progress he has made from year 1 to 2, largely due to LB, and will want that coaching each year so his game will continue to improve and he might have a chance at being a 1st round pick.

It is just amazing how much more loose his play is from even the beginning of this year. He is not having to constantly look at the bench. He is letting his play flow and mixing outside shots with drives.

Plus he is doing the little things, like getting offensive rebounds and assists. His passing in the tight space under the basket is very underrated. Add that with his obvious enthusiasm for the game, you get one electric player when he is on.

there are accountability standards in recruiting and in coursework. A few years ago we kept getting a bunch of angry reactions to recruits getting extra scrutiny because of a recruiting screen. For example, Coaches can offer any one they want but recruits scoring less than say 850 on the SAT or lower than 2.5 GPA are going to be screened by various committees, the provost and finally President Turner. In my opinion those screens are fine because they are not the FINAL WORD. There are avenues of appeals or other avenues of admission. I believe if all the facts were known about some these recruits you will find that SMU has bent over backwards to accommodate some of these recruits and I have posted evidence from official SMU documents showing admission of unbelievably low SAT scores. I think you would find the same thing regarding eligibility. When this first came out I cautioned fans to wait for the process to work itself out. We are going through part of that process with the J-Term. I believe these types of mid-term and summer school eligibility rescues are common and have been common for decades at many schools across the Country but not widely publicized. Let the process work itself out before slamming the university. I believe some of the people being slammed the hardest are the ones bending over the most for the athletics department. Personally I think it took a lot of balls to admit Frazier in the first place

It would haven taken a lot of "balls" to get SMU in a power 5 conference by now. RGT could have shown his "balls" by starting to emphasize athletics in the 1990s, early 2000s. Today, he's still struggling to find his "balls." Finally gives in to designated tutors in 2015. BOOM. More sad days for Mustangs ahead.
