Look at the ball. He has two hands on it, transfers it just to his left hand, and then extends that hand out. He unquestionably has control over the ball at that point.

But he didn't complete the play to the ground. It's not a catch.

You don't have to take it all the way to the ground if you already have possession, as the ground can't cause a fumble.
I guess I need to review the NFL rulebook definition of what constitutes making a move with the ball. Logically controlling the ball, moving it into one hand, and reaching out with that hand implies control/possession.

My question is this. Yes, the ball did come lose. I never saw incontrovertible evidence that the ball actually made contact with the ground before he regained control in the end zone. I know it came lose when he reached the ball out for the end zone, but I never saw video of the ball touching the ground...meaning his hand could have hit the ground and that impact jarred the ball lose. Without that video, then there is not enough evidence to overturn.

I'm glad you brought this up. I thought the same thing. At no point is it obvious the ball hit the ground.

Well...Mike Periera says it was an incomplete so I am now 100% sure it was a catch.
Seriously, this guy takes the vocabulary of Gruden and combines it with the intellectual greatness of Saban (who has been silent recently, it seems...maybe something to this) to make the perfect threat. Watch out Gruden and Collinsworth, you have competition for the title of biggest raging idiot on tv.

Terrible. Why do i know these [deleted] referees names? They called that bs packers reception that clearly hit the ground a catch. Terrible. I pray none of those guys get to do any more games this year.

Same thing Lions fans said about the Cowboys pass interference. Cowboys moved on last week. Packers rightfully moving on this week. Ironically, this is called the 'Calvin Johnson Rule'

That has absolutely nothing to do with this play, nothing.

I love watching sports where I have no idea how to interpret their stupid rules... it's like watching an old man screw up reading a measuring tape in my nephew's track meet.

Which was written by Jerry Jones when he was on the committee and incorrectly applied to this play.
