Re: KF LatestI haven't heard any of that but hoopmanx is smart
Re: KF Latest
It's difficult even to find a response to that last paragraph. Maybe they will just find a whole bunch of family pictures and loving emails.
Re: KF LatestMaybe some of those cute videos of kittens

Re: KF Latest
I so truly hope that isn't the case...insert face-palm here. Reading between the lines, they have not yet fired Maligi, not kicked Keith off the team, and they went after the questions regarding the HS transcript hard last January. This could be NCAA trying to go [deleted] all academic issues that are current or recent, both to hammer anyone associated with that SI article about grade fixing and to separate current/recent issues from the UNC scandal that they almost certainly aren't going to pursue. They have to attack any low hanging fruit right now, post PSU debacle, to maintain relevance in the eyes of the public and of institutions. If they lose any more cases and take more PR hits, you can see the public pressure grow enough to enable both the P5 teams to leave and form their own organization, and even more likely, congress deciding it is time to hammer them for their history of being a relatively crappy organization that steals money. There is nothing I would like more than Emmert answering questions under oath. Well, the entire NFL and NFLPA leadership would be nice too.

Re: KF Latest
Staying cryptic, there is some alleged yet unfounded truth here and in hoopmanx.
Re: KF LatestPlease repeat after me...."I forgot my laptop/was broken. I have so much respect for my teachers that I didn't want to turn in work late so I utilized the most trustworthy source for assistance I knew, one of my coaches. At no time did I ever intend to infringe upon the integrity of my studies, my school, and my education, nor did I ever intend for my actions to cast doubt on the integrity of my school, my coach, my team, and my academics. I will gladly sit-out all games while I retake or repeat any assignments under question, under the review of my school and an outside observer. I have the utmost respect for my team, my coaches, my school, and my family. I have learned so much from this experience, more than I ever would have were I not at such a fine institution with outstanding leaders who hold me to such high academic and ethical standards. I would also like to apologize to my family for any negative impact this may have had on them, especially at such a trying time as this."
Re: KF LatestAll fine and dandy if you have a way back machine to go back in time to high school where it seems the issues may be. And I would not advise him to say the SMU coach was helping him with high school assignments.

Re: KF Latestreminds me when watching 30 for 30 about SMU's death penalty. payments were on SMU checks and SMU letterhead on the envelopes.
Re: KF Latest
My rose-colored PR glasses are only for anything dealing with current SMU classes. Pretty sure they weren't doing online tests at DISD for science courses. My understanding of the HS grade issue is the contact between Maligi and the school; what was said and was anything promised. NCAA can review only so much at that level, requiring DISD to do the investigation regarding anything untoward happening that led to the grade change. If DISD is going to look really bad, I doubt they will have any issue with trying to blame this entire incident on SMU and Maligi threatening or promising rewards for a new grade...anything to make them look a little better. Outside of a smoking-gun/dumb and dumber level of stupid issue with Maligi and either the Kimball teachers/assistants and Keith's college courses, this will turn into a PR battle that we have to get ahead of to control, or the NCAA will use it to scapegoat us as they love to do.
Re: KF Latest
In the late 80s I subscribed to the Chronicle of Higher Education, a weekly that was the publication of record for those in higher education. They covered the NCAA investigations, including the one at SMU very diligently. Believe it or not, besides SMU football, the Houston Baptist gymnastics program was their most prominent target. HBU was constantly under fire and subject to microscopic investigations for years. NCAA equals biggest joke in sports.
Re: KF LatestUH is definitely in the mix here. They turned us in on the golf thing - and they were unhappy we stole Maligi from them - so i see fingerprints here also. Our basketball success has been more at their expense than anyone.
Prediction - keith is not coming back, and Maligi is not coming back. NCAA gives us a mild rebuke type penalty in May. We up the budget for a new recruiter to make LB happy. Our coaching/education pathway gets better due our Provost leaving - and we get the last academic piece in place (pathway to academic advancement). Hopefully the pressure turns our current team into pissed off determined young men.
Re: KF Latest
This one time, I knew a guy who subscribed to Penthouse...you know, the publication of record for those in lower education. The stories were great, but had about as much factual basis as much of the crap the NCAA spews.
Re: KF Latestanyone have a picture of the Free Keith banners that were behind the benches from today's game?
