Social media usageI am really impressed by how active this staff is on social media. I have no doubt it makes an impression with the younger guys. Are other staffs just as active and the last regime was just living in the stone age? Or is this staff really over the top aggressive on Twitter etc?
Re: Social media usageJust nice to see the dramatic change in noise/awareness/interest that the staff is generating compared to those staff(s) prior...last group was entranced with that new Myspace thing that was coming'...
stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Social media usageActually when it comes to some programs we are behind, but I think the average team we are probably near. Just a quick search for Texas football, their twitter has nearly 6000 tweets starting in 09 while ours started in '11 and almost has 3000. So ours is a little bit behind, but on instagram we are far far behind.
Texas FB (longhornsfootball): 284 posts 30.8k followers Notre Dame FB (ndfrecruiting) 391 with 15.5k followers, ND athletics (Thefightingirish) 1577 with 36.6k SMU FB (smufb) 16 with 261 *only started dec 18th.* SMU Athletics (smu.mustangs) 1495 with 3938 The school should try to purchase the naming rights for SMU because its some german guy and their name is (smudallas) *91 posts with 780 followers and its not like the schools social media skills are any better which makes me laugh when I get the emails about "become social media certified at CAPE"
Re: Social media usagejust to add some more numbers.
SMU twitter; 20.9k followers SMU FB twitter: 6722 followers smu athletics: 11.6k followers Chad morris. 23.3k followers

Re: Social media usageDon't sweat instagram too much. Most of the athletes remain tighter to twitter anyway.
Go Ponies!
Re: Social media usageMore curious about activity on twitter etc than total number of people "following". The staff is incredibly active with things posted multiple times throughout the day
Re: Social media usage
And the process to convert from overhead projector to Twitter or Instagram is a cumbersome one.
