Re: Top 25?Need to sweep through tulsa to get ranked? You cra cray
Re: Top 25?
I would think it would be sooner too, but the only other possible options before Tulsa are sweeping through Houston or sweeping through UCF. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Re: Top 25?Pollsters love ranking us so when we get violations it's a bigger story.
Re: Top 25?There are like 17 schools between us and number 25... nobody in our league is getting votes. I think our only hope through Tulsa would be for Tulsa to go undefeated up to that game, start getting some votes, and then we beat them.
Re: Top 25?Jason's right. CTFO guys. AAC isn't that strong this year and we lost our 3 hardest OOC games. We need to rattle off a few more wins first.

Re: Top 25?
Yeah, Cincinnati had no games to prove how good they were and ended up with a #2 seed and lost to Bill Self's Tulsa team in the second round. A better comparison may have been our 2005-06 team that was 13-3 when one of our starters Armein Kirkland tore his ACL, I believe we finished at 19-11 and lost at the buzzer in the Big East tournament. We were left out and the committee pointed to the injury even though we still registered 2-3 quality wins without him.
Re: Top 25?35 in coaches poll with 12 pts.
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings 36 in AP Top 25 with 11 pts.
Re: Top 25?36th in the AP - 11 votes.

Re: Top 25?With 9-10 teams in front of us just to hit #25, it's going to take some time to be ranked again anyways. And the light schedule coming up doesn't inspire voting confidence. Rankings are nice but trying to keep my eye on the real prize this year - conf championship and tourney berth.
Re: Top 25?Just keep winning and this will take care of itself. The next 4 games are all very winnable.
Re: Top 25?
Yep. It looks like we might have to win 6 games in a row to crack the Top 25. I don't think wins over Tulane, Houston, South Florida and UCF get us in. It probably puts us right on the cusp, but none of those are really quality opponents and I don't think the voters will take too much notice. But, if we win those four, then defeat Cincinnati, we're certainly in. However, the Cincy game is on a Thursday and we have to play at Tulsa that Saturday. Since the Top 25 polls only refresh every Monday, it looks like we may need 6 wins in a row to make it into the Top 25. Doable? Maybe. I miss Troy Matthews.
Re: Top 25?Time for a stupid question. Does being top at the end of the regular conference season get us in the NCAA or do we have to win the Tourney?

Have to win the tourney. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Re: Top 25?
The AAC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament is designated to the AAC tournament champion. The AAC regular season champion is guaranteed a spot in the NIT if it fails to make the NCAA tournament. I would think the AAC has enough prestige that the regular season champion would be a lock for the NCAA tournament, but there are no guarantees. We have to win the conference tournament to remove the human element.
Re: Top 25?
While it is not an automatic bid, if you win the regular season of a major conference you're in the tournament regardless of how you do in the conference tourney. BTW, I think most agree the major bball conferences are Big XII, Big 10, ACC, Pac 12, American, Big East SEC, A10 and MWC.
