PSA: Flyin' to the Hoops

Postby OhioBrownFan » Thu Jan 15, 2015 11:06 pm

I'll be at the tournament again this year. I'll be there all four days most likely, if anyone has requests on prospects they want followed, give me a heads up.

I'll also post thoughts about games in the thread during the days. Tomorrow night's opener should be a top shelf game. And I'm pumped for the Montrose Christian vs Franklin. Most of Ohio's top teams are represented which always leads to some late gems. Last year, it was Jalen Hudson out of SVSM who's already producing at VT.

Esa Ahmad made a name for himself in this class at this tourney last year as well. Anyways, that is all.

I'm attaching the schedule below of the games:

I'll type up my thoughts later on the weekend. All I know is there was a lot of talent this weekend that I saw. Wish I could've been at the Hoops Hall but I was more than content watching Findlay Prep, Huntington Prep, Montrose Christian, Prolific Prep, Balboa ect this weekend.

Anyone there we are in the mix for? I thought we had interest in Kapita.

Not sure, I need to go through my notes and figure out who's what. There's a few kids from the event that had SMU offers, I was much more concerned with scouting the Ohio talent for this year and helping identify low to mid-major D1 talents that are late to the game or just underexposed.

EDIT: I had Bryant mixed with Kapita, Kapita didn't play.
I've seen Kapita, he's got some things to work on. They were in the opening game of the weekend, well technically second. They played Prolific Prep from Cali and honestly, that was a guard game. It was a really good game with Josh Jackson (31 Points) and Bridges (21 points)/Curtis (19 poionts) going at each other. I think Jackson had 31 and Bridges had about 25 with Curtis chipping in another 20 in a 15 point win. It was a great game until the 4th quarter and Huntington just started to pull away.

I'll say this, I think Kapita is further along that even Bryant. I am not impressed by Bryant one bit. I think their third big, Levi Cook, played the best game of any of them. I like the way Cook is built, he's strong, sturdy, moves well and understands his role. He's 6'10 and just a beast of a man, he's not the most agile or athletically gifted but I'd take a flyer on him for sure.

Here's the box score for that game.

I just looked up Levi Cook's recruitment, only offers are WVU, VT, and Marshall. Go figure. Huggins is about to get a gem in his backyard. My guess is others are afraid to offer cause they know where he's going. Cook is a very good player that is college ready the day he sets foot on campus. He's that physically imposing.

Here's a link to him.
