Re: Good God!That'd be a fun schedule to see our Ponies play honestly.
Brutal for them though. Blow out city. ![]()
Re: Good God!I agree the Big12 is incredibly overrated. I would love to have that schedule though. Watched a little bit of the Texas/West Va game in Austin a few days ago. Top 25 matchup. Place was a morgue and about 50% full.
Re: Good God!very tough schedule.
for those that say the b12 is incredibly overrated, that may be the case in football, but it is a much stronger conference in basketball, because even teams 4-6 are very tough. That's not the case in football. Having said that, I wonder what we could do against this brutal schedule (given 4 games are away). I think we could go 3-3, or 4-2 if we cut down on our own stupid unforced errors.
Re: Good God!
Plan has been to have it open for next hoops season. Supposedly a few weeks behind schedule but should be ready in the fall. Also they are doing a lot more than just the basketball arena which is adding to the length of time to complete the project.
Re: Good God!
Huh? I'll have what you're smoking.
Re: Good God!
I'm sorry but those "top tier" B12 teams are middle of the road ACC/AAC/Big Ten teams. Extremely overrated and it's not even close.
Re: Good God!
What other conference is as strong based on results this year? I don't really care that much about hoops but big 12 is strong this year. ACC can make a claim but BIG and American??? Cmon man.
Re: Good God!
I'm sorry, I base my opinions on RESULTS: Temple (a middle of the road AAC team absolutely blew out Kansas, a top B12 team). UConn (a middle of the road AAC team) lost to Texas (the top B12 team at the time) on a last second lucky shot. The B12 is extremely overrated based on head to head which is all that really matters - the rankings are political and the system needs an ROI (ie B12 is a P5 and thus TONS of money invested in TV contracts, etc, and so those teams are ranked to justify their tourney invites and high seeds). Truth hurts, I know. Look up the term "cognitive dissonance" before you respond with your [deleted]. Last edited by ojaipony on Tue Jan 20, 2015 5:38 pm, edited 2 times in total.
Re: Good God!And I would LOVE to see some of these teams play tough nosed east coast teams like Gtown, Temple, Cincy, etc. They'd [deleted] their pants. [deleted] TCU and [deleted] the B12. Some of you B12 lovers have been living in Texas way too long and are drunk off the kool-aid.
Re: Good God!YYYYYUUUUUHHHHHHHH F*** ERRBODY!
Re: Good God!Ojai, not too many b12 lovers here (including myself), but the b12 is the best top-to-bottom conference this year and it isn't close. Sure, the ACC has better top teams. Sure, you can site a couple losses the b12 took (psst, you may want to research overall OOC). Hell, I'll even tip my hat and say the conference is slightly overrated. However, based on ball played to date they're the best. To argue otherwise likely means a combination of three things: 1) you're a small [deleted] b12 hater, 2) you know very little about basketball, or 3) you're drunk.
Pony up!
Re: Good God!Ojai - chill. agree with CMF, B12 is legit this year. Temple and UCONN got lucky. Kansas and Texas would destroy both teams if they were to play again. Be realistic man and not such a homer.
Re: Good God!
Huh!?? Temple beat Kansas by 27 but if they played again Kansas would destroy them? That's very odd logic. What are you basing that on? Granted Kansas has a couple of very important freshmen who are playing much better now - Oubre and Alexander, but Temple dominated KU last month. BTW, I'm not saying the Big XII isn't legit, I'm just think some teams are or have been very overrated - Iowa St, Baylor, TCU and Okie St. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: Good God!
I wouldn't dare say KU would beat (let alone destroy) Temple, but remember, a number of things have changed. First, as LA mentioned, the freshmen are now playing closer to their potential (in fact Oubre has been playing crazy lights out -- he's averaged like 15 pts a game since Temple). Also, Graham was out with an injury and he's been important as KU only sports two PGs. In any case, nice win for Temple. This is basketball, and any team can win on any given night. Celebrate your wins and learn from your losses. Pony up!
