a big part of this offense is deception too which helps the OLine

Puckhead48E wrote:Not sure whether it was here or not, but there was a discussion regarding his style and skill-set being perfect for this season. You need that line with a more powerful runner...open up lanes and create gaps. For someone like West with speed and agility, you an work outside and utilize those strengths to assist that O-Line. Add his skills to this new receiver corps and you have the potential for some insane tempo. The run sets up the pass, but in this case, the run could also set-up the line for success in all areas of play. Speed in the backfield and out wide, height out wide, and a QB who can pull the trigger fast, and you might see the key ingredients that work together to alter those 5-10 plays on offense every game and make the difference between 1-11 and 5-7. Get those extra sets of downs, an extra TD or two a game, and the resulting reduction in time the defense is on the field, and you can start to see the way forward.
Bingo! Pretty much how Seven Lakes used West;

Are any of you familiar with the kid already on our roster. I know Mason was really high on him. I was told while he was hurt early, he could have played. Mason refused to take his redshirt off considering the fiasco of the season--even after he was aware that he would never be coaching again at SMU.

Daniel Gresham. He's a little slow, and more of a June Jones type running back. Most schools were recruiting him as a fullback. Will be interested to see how he's used here. He does have talent.

The nature of the allegations have not been made public. I have a difficult time believing it is academic seeing how we have guys declared ineligible each semester.

Thanks. He was the kid that had more offers than all of JJ's classes put together...From Alabama and Auburn to Texas. What happened to all those? How did he fall between the cracks? BTW, 4.58 isn't that bad for a kid that big!

I think he was committed to Texas, then to Louisville, and when the new staff took over they did not honor his scholarship. By then, all those offers dried up. He actually called SMU looking for an offer. June admitted he didn't recruit him because he did not think he would come here.

Gresham has a role to play. Especially with Davis at QB because the RB can run the dive and Davis can sprint outside on the zone read. Don't need the back to provide danger outside with an athletic QB and some of the recruits or Walker or Lancaster or Durall lining up for a jet sweep.

I'm doing this from memory but I thought his rivals profile said he ran a 4.7 or 4.6?
It was written that he was the second coming of zach line as far as running style, so I'd assume not a burner

Rivals has his 40 time at 4.59, so not exactly slow. He had a ton of P5 offers but do to coaching changes we were lucky we got him and JJ didn't burn his red shirt. At 235lb his is about 15lbs heavier than any RB listed on Clemson's current roster. He is a talented player, but not clear how he will fit into the system. Could be a valuable protection and option if we are starting a true freshman at QB, or a FB for a QB designed run. Will be interesting to see how he is used in the spring game.
