time will tell with johnny.
he was the most exciting college football player i have ever seen. he is on a very dysfunctional team. i would like to see him do well. he may need a change of environment. would love to see him with the cowboys.

Dude has a boat-load if issues, from the ego to the sense of entitlement, but I think many overlook the impact that placing that emotional baggage in Cleveland had. Best way to ruin a situation where you have talent but lack maturity and drive...put that guy in a crap organization with terrible leadership and a disinterested team. I know that is oversimplified, but it's the Browns and Cleveland! I think there is still a chance with him, but their hands are full with Gordon right now, and we have seen how well they are doing with that situation.

Keeping their mouth shut and staying out of trouble are pretty easy to do when NFL players realize their on-field performance and brand image is directly tired to the amount of money they make.

as most Aggies still do. There does come a point of separation where the person's actions are viewed dispassionately by fans, and I think JM has reached that tipping point. Now you begin to hear of the jerk side of a star's life on campus, and how tiresome the antics at A&M really had become. Make no mistake, he was and is a legend here in College Station, both on and off the field...but also know that the coaching staff was ready to be rid of the hand-holding and sucking up that was done.

Taking a look at what just happened this week with Duke basketball, and you see the math was totaled when the coach says that i.e. "the contribution on the court did not weigh out to headaches he provided."

-alcohol issues
-family with their own set of baggage to be managed
-sense of entitlement
-great leader/athlete on the field, but a headache and a train wreck to coach
-self discipline virtually non-existent

have I missed anything?

Cole Beasley, our own, fussed about the ouster of JJ, and how SMU was a problem...ED did as well...to me, that 'tipping point' hasn't been reached with them. If I were an Aggie (shudder), I gotta think that my patience would be passed that point with the world of JM.

why is anyone on this board concerned with johnny? he did't go to smu. he did beat us twice. we definitely didn't recruit him. we are not spurned lovers. stallion loves to hate him because he went to tamu. espn certainly hates him for that reason. they desperately wanted to pin picture-gate on him. had no evidence. they are in bed with ut. so they hate all things tamu and especially johnny.
will he pan out? who knows. maybe he will be a bust and everyone can be happy.

All anyone really knows for sure is the guy has Alcohol issues. Tired of the judgmental cliched "Manziel has a sense of entitlement" moralizing against Manziel. Give the kid a break. He played in 2 games for Christ sake. Do not like Manziel personally because I despise all things Hitler Youth Academy but can admit he is a great talent. Lots of the guys teammates in Cleveland have publicly stated he is a hard worker so all this talk of lack of hard work is complete rubbish. Everyone forgets what its like to be that age. The guy was put in a situation where he has to deal with pressure under a far more intense microscope than the rest of society. Today I read he has entered a treatment facility. Good for him. At least the guy has the guts to deal with his alcohol problem by seeking help.

Nacho is correct too. Everyone on this board would collectively wishing him well if he had brought glory to our program.
