This Week's Forde Minuteshttp://sports.yahoo.com/news/forde-minu ... 12470.html
ADDITION BY SUBTRACTION SMU (27) appeared to be in crisis mode when sophomore starter Keith Frazier was declared ineligible for the season in mid-January. Which followed assistant coach Ulric Maligi taking a leave of absence. And that followed bench contributor Justin Martin leaving the program in early January. And we all know that star recruit Emmanuel Mudiay never even got to college, detouring to China instead. Yet the Mustangs have gotten better as the bodies have dropped – they've now won eight in a row, rising to 18-4 overall and 9-1 in American Athletic Conference play. That sets up a very big week: Cincinnati comes to Dallas Thursday, and SMU travels to league-leading Tulsa Saturday. Win those two, and the Mustangs may not be sweating an NCAA tournament bid the way they were last year, when they just barely missed the field. (Then again, they may be sweating everything by then. The NCAA has been investigating the basketball program for some time, and it will be interesting to see whether the school feels any compulsion to self-impose a postseason ban in a year when the NCAA tournament is a very real objective. SMU hasn't played in the Big Dance since 1993.)
Re: This Week's Forde MinutesZero chance we impose a ban before there is even a hearing on this. If there was anything to the allegations that the school was worried about, Maligi would be fired not on leave and SMU would have already come clean on the issues. The NCAA violation is almost certainly something like 90% golf and 10% basketball.
Re: This Week's Forde Minutes
yeah, no on that one Pat. What a tool.
Re: This Week's Forde MinutesIf we were to win the national championship in either revenue sport, whoever did the write-up would feel the overwhelming urge to say, up front, that we won, and then spend the entire article writing about past misgivings, things we can't control, fanciful hypotheticals, and doomsday predictions. The Death Penalty would probably get 3x as much ink as anything else.
Re: This Week's Forde Minuteswonder if Forde has written elsewhere that "it will be interesting to see if Carolina will self-impose a postseason ban"
Re: This Week's Forde MinutesIt's great how Forde and Seth Davis were sensationalizing the NCAA issue a month ago and not understanding the heart and soul of this team. People who know the team knew Sterling is one of the best overall players on the squad and how his replacing Frazier in the rotation would actually make us better. They also ignored the importance of Kennedy's return and his getting back into basketball shape (something that had me worried after the first Cinci game).
The team is rolling now. A great rotation with size and defense everywhere and with our only undersize guy being as tough as nails. I love that we have a tough stretch of games to close out. Let's win them all and finish in the top 10. F Forde. F Seth Davis. F the NCAA.
Re: This Week's Forde MinutesWhy would he? They only committed massive and systemic academic fraud across all sports spanning multiple decades. Peanuts.
Re: This Week's Forde MinutesHere's a story from NBC Sports on UNC's current struggles on the court. Not one mention of the class scandal.

Re: This Week's Forde MinutesSeriously. This crap is really annoying.
These journalists really need to get a life. Shake It Off Moody
Re: This Week's Forde Minutes
Gonna have to get use to it...especially if our program continues to grow and be successful. ![]()
Re: This Week's Forde MinutesWe are a private school located further than 100 miles from the either coast. This is what happens. Hell, look at the Gonzaga's of the world...they dominated their conference, had a good OOC schedule against top level competition that they beat when they got the chance, and often did well in March. It took them all the way until the last few years to actually get national respect. It is going to take us some time...and we will still hear from the east coast media and the rest of the haters until we get out of the AAC if we want that level of respect.
