A Baylor offer no recruit can resist...

Post by Oldmins »

Hilarious thread over on the Baylor and TCU pages about Baylor's latest PR goof. For recruiting purposes they printed out a big poster telling recruits all the big name restaurants that were "coming to Waco". Included was Pappadeaux, which promptly said publicly that they had no intention at all of coming to Waco. Also with In-and-Out burgers. Is this more of "the Baylor way"?

They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

So a place that employs Drew, Briles and Mulkey threw out a bunch of BS that isn't true?

Gee, that's hard to believe.

Do recruits actually base a portion of their decision on whether or not Pappadeaux is coming to their city?
There're much worse things they could be "lying" about.

this is just me personally, but if I was a baylor recruit and I heard about this I'd have some very serious second thoughts. Not because of the restaurants but just because of the fact that if you're willing to blatantly lie to me/other people to get us to come play for you, I'm not really sure I want to.

but I'm not a baylor recruit, so I guess my opinion is not important.

Sounds like a blatant lack of institutional control.

"Baylor Executive Assistant Athletic Director Nick Joos said the University did not mean to misrepresent the city to the visiting recruits,

"It really very much for a target audience of kids that were coming to campus and...if it offended anybody to cause a false celebration, certainly we’re sorry for that," he said."

I went on a football recruiting dinner with UH and the evil John Jenkins at Pappadeaux in H-Town. Not sure if people still like it, but it's a lot of food and spicy.
