If you average all the recruiting classes since the DP or possibly since the early 60s, not counting the pay for play years, this one is probably about the median.

Bennett's #69 first class was the second best class he had at SMU which blows a hole in the "little
time" excuse.

Don't see any LB like recruiting miracles in the near future. The past just doesn't support it.
Hopefully HCCM hasn't forgot all that football that Bennett did, and has the same amount of
energy for x's and o's, and coaching :!:

OK we'll mark you down as laying down a bet against Chad Morris' recruiting ability. Good luck with that. This is going to be fun

I think Forrest Gregg carried a lot of LB like weight with recruiting as well as Tom Rossley.

This class is very similar to what they did. Their classes had 3 or 4 Dallas area top 100 recruits
with 1 or 2 state 100 recruits :!:

Forest Gregg and Tom Rossley were in the SWC-they were horrible recruiters with horrible recruiting staffs too. This is the first time since the 1980s that SMU hired the type of staff that can be successful on the recruiting trail. This is the first staff to hit the recruiting trail the way the rest of the recruiting staffs in Texas recruit

Some of us old guys have discussed this here a lot in the past. But we've had three upper level P5 type classes since the DP. Two under Cavan and one under PB. While the current class is far from upper level P5, it's a great start. I expect a lot of fun watching recruits for the next few years. Frankly, I'm happy for Stallion who has been calling for exactly this staff since time began.

PBs high energy never resulted into anything substantial. To compare PB to CM is ridiculous at this time. PB chewed out his players with his high energy-not a good thing. CM is a totally different coach always emphasizing the positive. And the past not supporting any recruiting miracles? This isn't the past around here anymore and it is already on display.

Did any of these other coaches get these classes together in a month in a half? Think you are forgetting that bit of the comparison...

PB, and JJ's first classes. JJ probably had about 9 days.

PB tried to recruit, and JJ reaped the rewards of Bennett's doing after the first season.

Morris came into a situation where JJ literally could not care less about recruiting...and turned one of our worst recruiting classes ever into one that will be setting a foundation for future years.

You're absolutely insane if you can't see that.
