A friend took me to the Highland Park football game last Friday night against Mesquite Poteet. I have seen a lot of high school football games in my life, at all classification levels. I have seen a lot of HS QBs that went on to play in college, and some that went on to play pro ball. Never have I seen anyone (or anything) like Stafford. His mechanics are sound and his passes are thrown with pinpoint accurracy. If he does not suffer an injury in the next four years he will be a top pick in the NFL draft at the end of his college years.

If you have a chance to go see HP in the playoffs, do yourself a favor and make the trip. You can tell your kids in several years that you saw that guy playing on TV when he was in high school.

Oh yeah, Bennett was at the game. I did not have the heart to ask him what he would give to have Stafford play several blocks to the east.

i think he has. Don't know how much playing time he's had though.

I seem to remember reading something about it in the park cities people.

If we get some players from there, you won't really care, will you? ;)

Isn't Poteet the home of "Steve Canyon"? of comic book fame?

Nope. Poteet Canyon is his female cousin from Texas.

Trivia: Milton Caniff - the creator of 'Terry & the Pirates' and 'Steve Canyon' was a member of Sigmi Chi and so were the main characters of both newspaper comic strips (they were gathered into a comic book format years later).
