Re: Cunningham!Nice mention of Manuel as well, he is also in the same boat, after starting all games Larry's first season, he lost his starting job, but did not pout and made the most of it. Now he is a senior starter who plays a big part.
Congrats to Cunningham and Manuel for (about) to set the record! Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: Cunningham!Best game of his career.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four

Re: Cunningham!Who woke him up - great last couple games
Re: Cunningham!Cannen's always had this in him. Not sure what lit him up.
Re: Cunningham! So great to see both Cannen and Ryan contributing in very big ways. I know a lot of people here get down on Cannen for what seems to be a lack of "fire" or even hustle. I don't buy it.
And I also thought about starting him in place of Ben Moore. I really hope LB will try anything/everything that might make us better between now and tournament time. If Cannen can nail that 15 footer consistently it would really help the offense. Yanick and Cannen DID get the lions share of bigs minutes against Tulsa. They deserve it. Party at The Wopper!
Re: Cunningham!I always felt Cannen had this in him if he'd just hit the Red Bull. Possibly most talented guy on team if one just looked at size and skill set. Extremely versatile. He was a huge recruit out of HS, not sure how we got him. I'd say he definitely has a pro career ahead of him but I heard him say he has terrible knees in some interview last year I think.
Re: Cunningham!Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Cannen was on the team during the deep CIT run.

Re: Cunningham!
Sorry ECM but a search reveals that SMU played in the CIT in March of 2011 before LB arrived. Also, kudos to Doh for recruiting both Cunningham and Manuel and for coaching them in the CIT.
Re: Cunningham!
Right on target Shadow. He is a very mature young man and basketball player. I have criticized him for his laid back sleepwalking on the floor at times, but I think I have been wrong. He is just as smooth as silk, has icewater in his veins, and turns on the jets when required. I wish LB would start him and let him play more minutes. Certainly he has contributed much more than Ben M at this point. He deserves to play more. I also think Ben was better last year when he did come off the bench some of the time. I talked to CC early in the year when MK was ruled ineligible. I told him how much I appreciated his playing for SMU and that I hoped he would get a lot more playing time since MK was not playing. He just smiled, thanked me, and said he hoped I was right about playing time. Larry may have reasons for handling him the way he has, but it should be coming more and more clear that CC has learned and is making his move now. We need him coming down the stretch and I hope he will give him some starts or if not, that he will get more minutes. In the past two games he has hit 16 & 14 points, grabbed 2 & 3 rebounds, 3 blocks (Tulsa) and 2 steals. I was so depressed after the loss to Cin but so elated over the Tulsa game. Thank you Mustangs for making yourselves relevant again and a special thanks to Cannen Cunningham.
Re: Cunningham!I believe Cunningham and Manuel were seniors in high school during the CIT run, which was in 2011. They were class of 2011 recruits and wouldn't have been on campus until the 2011-12 season

Re: Cunningham!
ECM - you are right about Manuel & Cunningham being high school seniors in 2010-2011 season. My bad for assuming they played in the CIT; however, Larry Brown didn't come to SMU until the 2012-2013 season. The 2010-2011 team that played in the CIT had Papa Di, Nyakundi, Mangrum, Giles, Sammarippas, and Patsovich.
Re: Cunningham!Cannen is super talented, he's just soft and doesn't live & breathe hoops. Ultimately, having the fire to grind is what its all about and Cannen just doesn't love the game like that. Pretty far from a gym rat
Re: Cunningham!
I've often said that there are three attributes absolutely necessary to excel at the top level of your sport, no matter the sport: 1) incredible talent ( you are either born with it...or not) 2) an incredible work ethic... ( perhaps inherited, perhaps acquired via great coaching) 3) a total refusal and distaste for losing. ( born with it) You can do just fine with one or two of the three or even decent percentages of all three as you progress but as you near the top levels having all three attributes become crucial. I am a huge Cannen fan and I'll remember him fondly when he's selling insurance. Party at The Wopper!
Re: Cunningham!Should I loan him some And1 videos? Wait that's probably a violation
