I don't know I'd give much credibility for what they did in practice. They were going against an offense that was almost totally inept.

speaking of LBs getting eaten alive-we got the same LBs minus Pope this year. My biggest concern is that I guess we are going to expect Yenga to be MLB or SLB-I want him on the field but I don't think he is either. I still wonder if he should be the Hybrid LB but then we got no proven LBs inside. Hope Nick Horton, Rhone or Ngalo develop but that's a whole lot of inexperience. Definitely a concern during spring to watch because those aren't the style LBs you usually see in 4-2-5. I'm think Seals is going to have to play here

I think Darrion Richardson should start-I wouldn't say he's an incredible athlete but then again I watch about 500 college games every year but not any SMU flag football practices-I don't see the range you really want at FS but he's functional. BTW I bet safety is one of those positions that is really negatively affected by not going full speed in practice. Its always been a big problem in early game although admittedly some of those games have been against quality competition. I just don't think you can duplicate the speed of the game in practice unless your secondary is going full speed in passing game and run support

Crap. OFFENSE. I meant offense. Long day at the office, and was running dangerously low on caffeine. Thanks for catching that. Fixed.

I think one of the biggest things that will help the defense, is to practice against a better offense and against better skill players. In no sport can you practice again subpar athletes and improve the way you could if you were practicing against better athletes. Many of those better athletes may not be here till summer, but even this spring the defense will be practicing against a better offense, going full speed. I think that will help the defense a lot.

I never spent any eligibility. I would be a RS-FR.
The clock starts once you enroll. http://eligibilitycoach.com/2012/09/nca ... r-clock-2/
How about re-enrollment?[/quote] You would have to petition as discussed in the surprisingly interesting The Pony Trap

Thanks for catching that. Fixed. I agree the offense was pretty bad but you are not usually this blunt in describing it!

D Rich is more SS than FS, I think Randolph can be a good FS. Those guys are two of the better athletes on the team and that pops at you during practice.
I predict we here the same thing out of Van Malone during spring ball - that JR and Horace can be really good if they stay healthy, and he will say he is surprised that we have talent at safety.
Biggest concerns on the defense are the 1 technique NT, LB, and the star. I think Seals is a DE and I don't think Yenga fits anywhere unless his cover skills get a lot better or he is coached well enough to take better angles from MLB. It will be exciting to see how they play in the spring.

I have one year remaining also
I think I have 2 maybe three, freshmen could not play when I was playing. The pacemaker might be a bit of a problem and bit of a weight problem but if I can help.

Right. Another area Chad's offense could help our defense, is going against #Tempo in practice. Up tempo teams have murdered our defenses in the past.

Is the defense allowed to fake injuries in practice?

Of course, that's where they learn how to do it.
