Has CUSA helped our attendance?

Postby PonySnob » Sun Nov 06, 2005 10:25 am

Wasn't part of the love affair that Copeland and Bennett had with CUSA was how many more fans would attend games from the visiting teams due to the "regional" affiliations? Have we had a visiting CUSA team with more than 500 fans at a game this year? The MWC is really hurting TCU's attendance - as over 36,000 watched the Frogs at Amon Carter.

I've got news for you sport...most of those in attendance for TCU games are TCU fans. Fort Worth supports the Frogs big time compared to what Dallas does for SMU. And before you state the obvious...yes TCU has had a winning program for some time and we haven't. I suspect that Tulane would have had more fans here had they not been dealing with the aftermath of Katrina. Rice has fewer alums than we have. UTEP will bring a good crowd. Nobody travels worse than we do. There is no excuse for the fans that were at the game to leave after half time...that was f'ing ridiculous...so SMU.

only the Pollyannas who type before they think really thought CUSA would help our attendance. The facts against those teams over the last 15 years tell a different story. Its up to SMU and SMU alone to help improve its own attendance .

Stop the presses! Pony Snob has discovered and revealed to us that his TCU team, playing for a conference championship and with only one loss, is playing in front of a larger crowd than the 2-win SMU team. Another in a long line of mindnumbing Pony Snob TCU rah-rah. Next week he will break the story that TCU won its conference and SMU did not. Thanks Pony Snob. Without your inane revelations we would still think we had a great football team.

36K is more than Ford can hold

Given that CSU is no big attraction, the impressive thing about the TCU attendance is that SMU couldn't handle such a crowd and would have to expand Ford stadium if our gate was ever so successful. Unless we played UT, aTm, or Arkansas, we could never draw such a crowd even if we won the CUSA.

You guys lay off the Amon Carter Kool-Aid. Do you remember the last days of Pat Sullivan era?? Those great loyal fans were hanging out at Old South Pancake house and NOT at the games. Everyone shows up when your winning.
