Re: Myles TurnerRather have Yanick on the court anyways. Myles looks like an oaf out there.
Re: Myles TurnerI would have loved to have had him at SMU. He will grow into his role at TX.

Re: Myles Turner
Was thinking the same thing after last nights loss.
Re: Myles Turner
He'll be fine with a new coach. At least he'll get to play more.
Re: Myles TurnerHe has benefited little this year down there. His choice and he has to live with it but he appears nowhere near ready for the pros.
Re: Myles TurnerTurner is a good player, Barnes is an ok coach that has a team that is not playing up to it's talent level. LB is a great coach that has his team playing near their full potential. If turner were here I'm sure he would be more effective and be better in the minutes he gets, but he would get less minutes.
Texas' problem this year is a) they lack a good point guard who can consistently get the ball inside to their bigs. 2) they play horrible man to man defense so Barnes (who is a man to man defense guy) has to have them play zone. When a coach has to play a defense he is not an expert at it tends to be mediocre at best. Jim Boehime is an expert at zone so his teams play great zone defense. Barnes' team's zone is pretty bad. 3) Texas has limited outside shooting so they can't keep up with teams that destroy their bad zone defense. Texas has many of the same strengths and weaknesses as a team that SMU has with the exception of Nic Moore and having a great coach who can teach his kids to play good defense. Turner would be better off here but he would likely be a lottery pick either way and I doubt he plays a sophomore season. If Turner decides to stay in college one more year he would have been way better off coming to SMU but I'm sure it came down to a fact that he was only going to stay 1 year, he sees himself as the next durant, and he wanted to live in Austin and be part of longhorn nation (which is a pretty good set up for a kid from texas).
Re: Myles TurnerI don't know - I am not seeing a lottery pick out of him right now. I think Barnes lack of ability to develop a player is showing pretty clearly here - he looks soft and kind of out of it. If he is forced to stay then he screwed up for sure.
Really either way he made the wrong choice - they are not heading to the tournament so no showcase for him. Would have been a quandary for Brown - had he come here his minutes would have to come from somewhere - and for us it would have been a combination of CC and Ben Moore. Not saying we wouldn't have loved to have him - obviously we would have found a way, and he would have really helped us. He is no Durant, but who is really? Also disagree with the Longhorn nation deal. They have a history of using and throwing away just like every big school in the country. He would have a much better shot of finding a long term post pro career with SMU helping him.
Re: Myles Turner"He's skilled , can run, and has size. He's just not an alpha kid. His potential and ceiling is immense, but youll just get glimmers on a deep team in a OAD scenario" - hoopmanx, exactly one year ago today.
Re: Myles Turneralso, if you think he is not a lottery pick, you are ridiculous.
Re: Myles TurnerNBA teams draft primarily on potential not achievement at the moment. Turner is a guy wih huge length that can shoot and run the floor. He will be a lottery pick based on the hope he will turn into a monster. He could have say out this year and probably have been a high lottery pick just based on his high school numbers and physical measurements.
Re: Myles TurnerHe's hitting 83.5% of his free throws. That's outstanding in general and unbelievable for a big man.

Re: Myles TurnerTurner as the next Durant......
![]() ![]() ![]() Turner may very well have a 10 year NBA career if his body holds up. He is a specialist, pick and pop shooter. Durant is a fluid, explosive, athletic freak. Turner moves like Durant's grandpa.
Re: Myles TurnerHe's getting more minutes at TX than he would have gotten here this year most likely. Boy, could we have used him next year though. He'll be a millionaire very soon because he's 7 feet tall, can hit FTs and 3 pters and is a smart kid. More hype than ability IMHO.
