SMU have a nicer campus? HUGE check!!
SMU have hotter chicks? Big check!
SMU gives its grads better opportunities? Check.
SMU have a richer, longer sports tradition? Check (Memphis state has never done anything in football and it's basketball has been good off and on for about 30 years - on the other hand, we have 3 national championships, a heisman trophy winner, the founder of the AFL, and more NFL hall of famers combined than Memphis and now our basketball team is even better).
Any other questions morons?
Make that the past 40-50 years, but I'll give you the rest. Even though yall cheated your arse off to achieve those things. As have we though. Not to yalls extent, but still. Btw, were rated the 18th best basketball program over the past 50 years. Little bit better at sustaining success than any of your programs!
I was born and raised in Memphis. I know all about the history. OVER TIME, SMU has much much longer history going all the way back to the 1930s. Memphis State had a few good years with Keith Lee (who is now my high school's bball coach) and before that Larry Finch, then you had the Penny year (ok 2) and D Rose (1). About 6-7 great years total over about 40 years. Other than that, you have absolutely nothing. And your school is nothing. Every idiot I went to high school with who couldn't get into any other college program got into Memphis State because it was their "fall back" school.
11 sweet 16's 6 Elite Eights 3 Final Fours 2 Title Appearances Ranked the 18th best program of the last 50 years. I don't think a program that had "6-7" good years could put up that resume^

Wichita has a lot of history. And we went to a final four and had a team ranked #2 in the 80s
Wichita has mediocre history. A handful of sweet sixteens. A couple final fours. One was in the 60's I believe. So maybe that was a bad comparison. Wichita state has better history than SMU

When you adjust for your repeated probations, SMU has as many Sweet 16s and as many Final Four appearances as Memphis State. Fact is, the only thing your school is good at... you're not actually all that good at when you aren't cheating so blatantly that you get put on probation.

Here's the deal, the money people at SMU happen to enjoy this success. No Way we go back to our ineptitude of the past. We have unique selling points that should make us a perennial Top 30 program. Get use to it.

Reb, we set the record for most probations among SWC schools. I wouldn't go there.

Look, Memphis has a much better basketball history than many other schools. SMU has a much better athletics history than many more schools than that. We are going to say our current trend pushes up past the Memphis past. They poopoo that...oh well. Either way, the best part is a bunch of people from two schools who have been hit hard by the NCAA (rightly or wrongly) calling each other cheaters.

Most of their posters seem pretty reasonable. Looks to me their village idiot is sounding off. Even TigerJ is being a great sport on this board. The truth is we haven't done much in athletics in the past 25 years. This is the best SMU has been in football or basketball in my 24 years of living. We need Memphis to be good just as much as the rest of our conference mates need us to be good. We are having a great year and our program seems to only be revving up. Memphis will can Pastner and will continue to be a solid program. I expect the American to be a consistent 4 bid league.

Now this I can ride with! Btw, the only posters left on that memphis board are delusional sunshine pumpers. The real fans (the ones that go to games, donate money, etc) pretty much have been run off by the few sunshine pumpers

We lost one Memphis troll only to get another. Oh well, we need to expect it now that we are at the top. It's hard for these guys to constantly be looking up at our backsides.
Bye bye memphis. See you next year.

Yeah, trading insults is what college sports is all about.

I dunno... I think this one is actually a pretty good poster. Proud of his school (not sure why) but reasonable enough to shrug off some of the trash talk. I wouldn't mind if he stuck around...

Haha. In all honesty, I've been trolling and rolling with the punches. I'm glad SMU has improved basketball. It helps the league. We all know we're one of the best hoops conferences, but it will take a lot of success to prove that to the machine. (ESPN)
