At this point, given our conference record the race for conference player of the year is for second place.

Well Nic has smaller legs. So it's not really fair.

Could not say it better. But just think if Gene had the 3 point shot available.

I focused last week on the fact that we only have two (Men's) retired number banners hanging in Moody...one for Krebs and the other for Kak. Are you kidding me? No 23 for Gene? That needs immediate attention.

Kyle padron
I wouldn't call Kyle clutch after the end of his sophomore year. June ruined him.
I'm kidding. Anyone that gets beat out by a New Mexico transfer isn't clutch in my book

It's really a joke. There needs to be pressure on those in charge to change that. Ira should be up there no question.

I have not paid attention. I always thought Gene's jersey was retired.

“@JonRothstein: If you don't think SMU's Nic Moore is one of the best guards in the country, you're nuts! Just drilled 3 HUGE shots down stretch at Memphis.†Watch the ESPN game highlights. The shot Nic hits at the :40 mark is one of my favorite of his ever. He's basically saying I'm about to pull up in your face and there's nothing you can do about it. So great. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... u-mustangs

best shooter in the history of smu. not quick enough for the nba. the only reason he is not the all-time smu scoring leader is that freshmen couldn't play. only had 3 years. sasser broke his record in 4 years.

Have you looked at his scoring records? http://www.smumustangs.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/062309aab.html51 points in a SWC game pre 3 pointer is pretty stout - and unbeatable now. He probably still has a bunch of SMU scoring records. From the article: Three of the top four scoring performances in SMU history were turned in that year by Phillips, a three-time SWC Player of the Year, including 44 points at Creighton and Texas A&M. Other Phillips' school records include: 26.1 career points per game, 24 30-point games (Krebs is second with nine), 540 career free throws made and 19-19 free throws in a game.

So is every Heisman trophy winner bogus if they don't make the NFL hall of fame? Cmon, man!

I've had that same thought; guy was a scoring machine and could score inside and out, but definitely had NBA range
