Sorry they didn't have an IPF when you played decades ago. You were just fine. Of course things change - Junction Boys was criminal by today's standards. It is an important recruiting tool and will be built with advanced training facilities. This is no different than having a state of the art weight room, film room, helmets, etc. Florida could get away with a crummy weight room if they wanted to, because of their background. We however need to demonstrate that we are dedicated to winning, and need any training advantage we can get.

Nice facility. Kinda necessary when you get over 100" of snow per year.

I am obviously out it touch with what a dollar buys these days. Can someone explain how that place cost $13mil to construct? Seems like a lot of doll-hairs to build.

IPF would have made ZERO difference during the Jones regime. Very little, if any, difference for the Morris crew. Our facilities are more than adequate for the AAC.

The real difference when recruiting these 10+ offer 3 & 4 star kids is the game day experience. 10,000 fans in a 32,000 seat stadium vs. 50-80,000 in a packed house P5 alternative. More than one recruit has compared the SMU game day experience to a Texas High School experience.

Georgia is another place with pretty similar to weather as us that does not have one. I read something about the coaches complaining about it.
I think IPF's make more economic sense in some ways when you baseball, lacrosse, etc, so multiple sports are using it. I wonder if it helps to get out of the heat for some practices in August as well.

1) Building the IPF is not a bad thing.
2) Building the IPF "IS" a sign that we aren't ready to send our FB program "into that good night."

But, in terms of wins/losses, I doubt that it makes much of a difference. In 2015, it is just something you do. It is not a game changer.

It's a necessary but not sufficient condition for success.

$13 million is nothing in construction. That won't even build you an elementary school.

Bingo! That's the biggest factor inhibiting SMU's recruiting. Doherty didn't do much right during his time at SMU, but one thing he was correct about was that the MBB program needed to draw at least 4,500 each game to attract solid recruits. The same applies to football. When SMU can legitimately get 25K+ BIS each home game, then 4* recruits will be interested.

Once again, SMU battered wife syndrome is displayed by our psycho fans. One more success obstacle is likely to be removed for our team, and we have a pointless debate about if it only sorta matters or is a huge positive change. How about you go with this complex theory:

1) it can only help us recruit - especially with 3 and 4 star guys who are only going to see similar facilities in other schools they are considering.
2) if you only lose 5 or 6 days a year to weather that is 5 or 6 we wont lose now
3) You aint gonna have to pay for it.
4) Down the road not very many schools without IPF will be thought of for big boy conference consideration. Not saying it is a requirement - but it is part of the package and shows commitment

Its not complicated folks. Learn to be happy.

Not according to Coach Morris. SMU had high school recruits saying that there high school weight rooms were more up to date than SMU's. That is why he asked for 500,000 to upgrade things. And Coach Morris is shooting for high than just doing well in the AAC.
