SMU's final Four loss in 1957 has discussed on ponyfans before and I've written about it before.

I was in Moody for that game against Kansas and will always remember Krebs slowing raising his arm when the fifth foul was called. The comment by Chamberlain quoted in the Dallas papers next day could only make you believe that he knew it was a bad call.

I wonder what the reaction to something like that would be today, with all the TV and replays and analysis and personal videos.

More knowledgable people than I including some who were in Moody yesterday have commented about the officiating. I hope it will be better for the remainder of the season. But it is going to take a real whopper to displace that memory from my 19th year.

Go Ponies.

If you were really 19 in 1957 then I am thoroughly impressed. Not many people pushing 80 can even work a mouse.

It is hard to wrap my head around people on pony fans having living memory of what feels like ancient history - black and white TV, 48 states, communism, one income households, the slander campaign against Senator McCarthy.

You need to dig your history books out. There were plenty of two income families in late 50's. I know, I grew up in one. Where do you think our school teachers came from? BTW, McCarthy was an Ahole and a disgrace to freedom loving Americans.

can anybody date that picture on East side of Moody concourse. Definitely before integration and probably dates to 50s. No bleachers Right? I remember the M on the Court though-I think. Could that be the Kansas game? What's the rest of the story?

I remember way back when, when we wanted to find out a score, we had to do it the old fashion way. We had to go on the Internet! Things were so much slower back in those days. You just can't imagine how far we have come in such a short period of time with communication.

I was born in April of 1938 and it was actually about a month before I turned nineteen. Unlike my contemporary Arkpony I don't claim to do much more than get by. And of course I was in error about the Final Four appearance being in 1957. It was the year before when we lost to Bill Russell and San Francisco I'm surprised no one has called me on that but maybe its respect for an addled elder. There were comments on ponyfans some time back:

Certainly the members of that squad who played against Kansas the following season are well remembered. Maybe my memory is better than confessed above when I recall that senior guard Ron Morris hit an incredible number of consecutive FT before missing. There was speculation that he set or was close to a national record for that statistic - FT in a row without a miss - but I don't think the available records confirmed that one way or the other. Reserve center Tom Miller who was instrumental in Krebs development was also on that team.
