He has the courage to express his convictions.
Every individual has a constitutional right to enter into the relationship they choose. Having said this, my personal moral choices and opinions are far different.
When we confuse the public sphere with our personal choices, we lose sight of the distinguishing difference.
Forgive me for my two cents.
Free speech doesn't make his speech less idiotic.
that old axiom: "Opinions are like..." well, you know the rest. Everyone has one. CJ did not dodge, obfuscate, or try to simply bypass this one. His opinion. Interesting that either because of who he is, what he does (or has done), his opinion is now out there. Interesting also that most of us will not find ourselves in CJ's position to have anyone care to know what we think. The reactions to CJ's words are, well, opinions.

We're talking about it here because it is indeed sports news when one of the most famous sporting alumni of SMU makes public comments about it. And to be fair to Craig James, he's commenting on it because multiple major sports franchises in California, Florida, and Massachusetts filed briefs as amici on the topic. Of course, those franchises, along with 379 other companies (just pulling from those starting with "A": Aetna, American Airlines, American Express, AT&T) are comfortable filing in support of marriage equality because the issue is settled in the court of public opinion, and in three months will be settled as a matter of law. But ponyboy, you and Craig James will continue to be just as free to express your opinion on how gay people should or shouldn't be allowed to lead their lives.

I always say don't judge gay people until you've tried anal sex.

Ok, then we will talk about it on the football board.
I'm not entirely sure, Dukie, that right and wrong is a matter to be determined by majority vote. Craig appeals to a standard outside of the latest polls.

By all means, you and Craig go ahead and agitate tirelessly for LGBT members of your churches to be celibate or to try to pray the gay away (and marry your opposite-sex sons and daughters). I'm just telling you why your ability to treat LGBT Anericans as second-class citizens as a matter of secular, governmental status is ending.

That is what many think. Who knows if they are right or wrong. It should not be part of a discussion on sports. Who are we to judge either way but the media loves to make things controversial.

"Agitate tirelessly"? What does that even mean? Dukie wrote:...or try to pray the gay away....
Cute. You show remarkable ignorance that there might possibly be an intelligent argument for currently unpopular opinion. That maybe, just maybe, our grandparents and every other generation in every culture reaching back to the dawn of time could have been on to something. Homosexuality does not ultimately lead to human happiness or flourishing.

Agitate: to arouse or attempt to arouse public interest and support, as in some political or social cause or theory http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/agitateYou may tirelessly attempt to arouse public interest of something. Appeal to tradition (also known as argumentum ad antiquitatem, appeal to antiquity, or appeal to common practice) is a common fallacy in which a thesis is deemed correct on the basis that it correlates with some past or present tradition. The appeal takes the form of "this is right because we've always done it this way."

Don't really care about the fay cause one way or another, but what about the next great cause, polygamy? When will we have marriage equality for polysexuals?

Marriage equality for equally married married individuals with other married individuals equally married to some others.
