Top Twenty mentioned Maryland. Everyone knows the contact in these types of cases often comes through aau connections. Does anyone know of someone who has connections to grassroots basketball and smu and Maryland?

Just to be on the safe side, if Nic transfers to Maryland, hoopmanx should receive a lifetime ban from PonyFans

This has been my unasked question. Was wondering if he would have to do a Garret Gilbert semester.

He would have to be taking such a semester right now, if so. Don't grad transfers have to be done by July 1?

I'm going to refuse to believe that hoopman would be involved in anything like that. MD has Melo. They don't need Nic. Innocent until proven guilty. But, if guilty, oh hell yeah.

Maryland may have the best PG in the country and the only member of their incoming class is the BABC PG who ran the show when Nerlens & Jake Layman ran for them. They could care less about Nic. It's one of the few places in America that Nic is a decided downgrade

Nic/Sed Keith/Shake Sterling/Ben E Ben M/ Semi MK/Tolbert
We are undersized but have both muscle and jump under the boards. We make do if we don't get a JC or transfer big. That's a pretty nice 10. By the time we get to the conference tourney those freshmen are essentially sophs and Semi should be up on the LB system. I like this team a whole bunch.
Tough to break down by position as most of the backcourt can play on or off ball and Keith can swing up and Ben E can swing down. Ben can play down too. All that said, that's the 10 right there w/Foster as a wildcard. Unfortunately, tons of if's as other teams are killing Nic about SMU sanctions and the 5th year transfer rule. I've heard more than 1 coach say he's heading to the Big 10 next year. The key to this offseason is getting the penalty portion done and over so we can retain everyone
Hoop, Here is one example of your banging the drum that he is leaving. Just own it, that's all. Stop playing your semantics. You are an interesting read for the most part. Most of us enjoy your insight but on this topic, let's just see where everything eventually falls.
I'm not sure how you've decided to read that, but you're clearly not reading what I wrote. All I said was the he's been contacted and is actually considering the possibility. I've also heard it from coaches that he's Big 10 bound. That doesn't mean I think he's leaving, nor I do i think he should, cause the sanctions shouldn't effect too terribly much.

I don't post much but seriously guys get off hoop. His insight is interesting and informative. Unlike most of the dribble on here.

Hoop is only person on this board with inside scoop into AAU and recruiting. So let's not run him off.
he never said Nic was transferring or thought he would. Just said coaches were whispering in his people's ear. I'm not surprised that happens to a quality player like Nic in the event he could become eligible for transfer. I'm sure it happens all the time. " hey go chat up so and so AAU coach and see if player X is still happy. " Maybe why you see all the BBall transfers. I have no doubt recruiting continues through the course of a players career. I bet KF is getting feelers all the time. Reality in today's college hoops scene.

My comment was in jest, by the way. Hoopmanx is by far the most knowledgeable person on the basketball board.

Ok, in the event everyone returns:
PG: Nic, Sed SG: Keith, Shake SF: Sterling, Ben E, Jarrey Bigs: Ben M, Jordan, Markus, Semi
We're loaded w/that roster. We could use a big, but it's not the end of the world.

If we lose a ship would it be the current open one for next season, or not until 2017?
