I think our conference has a few boots on its neck - and the boots belong to USF, UCF, UH etc. How bad they suck cost the top teams last year and it cost them this year.

I still have never heard a good explanation of why this "committee" does all of their work behind closed doors and not totally out in the open.

The reason I heard was that it allows committee members to speak freely without fear of fan reaction. If person #1 said "Team A is better than Team B" and/or person #2 said "Team B isn't worthy of consideration", you can bet persons 1 & 2 will be attacked by fans of Team B on social media and other forums indefinitely. Unfortunately, we know some fans would take it too far.

That would be fine if you had a comittee of neutrals. As it is there is a comittee of interested parties who have an interest in increasing total numbers in their conferences. Transparency would expose the obvious deals the power 5 make with each other to keep non power 5 teams out.
