They could have won the tournament, they didn't. C'est la vie.

We beat them handily each time and I watched them play at Tulsa and they looked horrible. If the committee saw that game I can see why they were left out.
The AAC was down this year. Hopefully UCONN and Temple can improve and join SMU and UC in the tourney next year. We should be a 4 bid league. Memphis needs to get its act together which they will after Pastner leaves.

Not to be too picky but Temple beat KU which is something the Whorns can't claim. And the Whorns are in despite a 8-10 conference record. UConn has a better conference record with a similar overall record. Strange, they aren't in. And UConn went deeper in the conference tourney. And Temple had a better record than UConn with a win over a team that own the Whorns. I just don't think Temple got a fair evaluation.

It's wrong and unfair, but it isn't strange. Who will sell more tickets, UCLA and Whorns or Colorado State and Temple? Who will draw more TV eyeballs, UCLA and Whorns or Colorado State and Temple? The answers to those questions are all you need to know.

Absolutely agree. I think Temple would have large TV market. Still, it really isn't about merit but money. I hate that. The committee should have the auto bids, earned bids and TV rating bids. Just be transparent about the process and not make up some hogwash about a crummy team getting in over a deserving team.

Transparency and consistency are not the NCAAs strong suits. Arbitrariness, sycophancy, and greed is.

They got left out because UCLA got in. That's really about the only reason I can see. Some people will also say that they should have gotten in over, say, Ole Miss but I'd argue that Ole Miss actually did something that the committee said they were emphasizing this year - getting quality wins on the road (3 top 50 wins away from home or on a neutral court). Temple, on the other hand, only had 2 top 50 wins and both were at home.

The real problem, though, is that the system is totally subjective. I don't know if Temple would have gotten in using some algorithmic method to determine who gets in but I do know that, if such a system were used, teams would at least know the real reason why they didn't get in. Of course, the NCAA doesn't want an objective, transparent method of selecting teams to the tournament because that would take away their ability to slip "big name" teams into the tournament that otherwise probably wouldn't get in.

I saw some commentator mention Wyoming taking a bubble spot cause they won the MWC tourney. It may have even been the unimpressive Barnes, the committee chairman.

But none the less UCLA has a very unimpressive resume. It make me even more mad reflecting on our snub last year.

Seth Davis did a good job outlining the advantages the P5 have with their schedule. Inherently stronger because of their conference schedule only leaving MidMajors the opportunity to build a resume from a limited OOC schedule. Add in that losing in your conference like Texas and UCLA, but magically passing the eye test, when those outside the P5 don't get the same consideration, just shows how flawed the NCAA is. And it is getting worse.
