Sacrificing for the Team

Postby couch 'em » Wed Mar 18, 2015 4:14 pm

I have been researching what kind of sacrifice to make tonight to help the ponies. Obviously human sacrifice is out if the question, so it must be animal. But which?

It must be a current world practice, as the practices of extinct cultures would encourage an early exit from the tourney, as they exited from the world.

Of those still practiced, you must throw out primitive tribal religions as they would be more appropriate for primitive state schools like Cincy or low-seeded 1st round teams to match those culture's low developmental level.

So if it is to be only current, major world religions we have active animal sacrifice still practiced by Christians in some small branches of eastern orthodox and small branches of mormonism and semi-tribal Mexican catholicism. You have equally obscure branches of islam, you have a few elements of hinduism, and a few left over tribal practices coexisting in the eastern religions (tribal holdovers).

Of these I am going with Hindu goat sacrifice. If you recall when SMU was trying to close the condos now where the Bush Library is, the holdouts accused SMU students of sacrificing a goat on their balcony. Clearly this practice was used to bring the library to SMU (successful) and evict the troublesome condo owners (also successful).

So everyone should help the team any way they can. I can't be at the game, but I know what I will do tonight:

In India, ritual of animal sacrifice is practised in many villages before local deities or certain powerful and terrifying forms of the Devi. In this form of worship, animals, usually goats, are decapitated and the blood is offered to deity often by smearing some of it on a post outside the temple.[34] or instance, Kandhen Budhi is the reigning deity of Kantamal in Boudh district of Orissa, India.

Throw an un-opened bottle of Tennessee's George Dickle Whisky on the ground...it is a blessing on journeys and it'll appease the powerful Kentucky Whiskey Gods.
