That kid showed so much class it's unfathomable. Jamal Crawford just hot him up on twitter and told him he was a fan for life, just based on Yanick's character alone. I feel the same way, a damn good Mustang and a far better person.

YM made a mistake, but that happens in sports. Learn from it and use that knowledge at the next level, that's why you go to college.

It wasn't a mistake -- unless alley oop passes touched by a defender are now worth 3 points.

Prediction: Goaltending will be reviewable next season. Ridiculous that it's not already.

And didn't Yanick say that the ref told him he called it because he touched the net (which he clearly didn't)? So according to the ref, it wasn't an issue of hitting the room/possibly going in, etc. Why isn't that story getting more press?

That is what another poster said that Yanick said. But Yanick never mentioned it in the press conference.

You still don't get it. There was no mistake. He made a play on a ball that was outside the cylinder. Completely legal. The only way that ball was going in the basket is if someone tipped it in. Not that hard to comprehend. What was Yanick supposed to do? Wait until the ball passes the bottom of the net or hit the floor? He was going for the rebound on an airball!

He played great, improved a lot this year, and has nothing to apologize for.

I was shocked a call like this was not already reviewable, at least with under 2mins to go

What he was supposed to do is when the shot goes up, find the first blue jersey and put his body on him and go for the rebound. That way if its an ally oop, the blue jersey commits an offensive foul and if there's a rebound YM gets it and not a blue jersey. That was the mistake. He never should have been up in the air at all. He should have been blocking out.

Bingo east!! You don't have to jump early if you box out. That has been a chronic issue for SMU this year.

Learning to block out and not look at the shot is the hardest part of playing down low. But if you master it, you become a monster underneath and size doesn't matter as much. Wes Unseld a 6'8" center in the NBA for years, blocked out so well, he'd pick up the rebound on the first bounce. That's a fundamental I've always coached in hoops.

YM's Twitter feed is outstanding. I am glad that SMU fans are not trashing him. Next year, we'll just have to do better.

Very proud of the SMU reaction to Yanick on twitter...almost all of his mentions are positive.

Great kid who made a play on the ball....which incidentally was completely legal.

Yanick will be a Mustang for life. PonyUp.
