On a positive note, we will have three new banners in Moody next season. That will be really nice. Will there be a ceremony before the first home game? Do you have a ceremony for a conference championship and a tourney appearance? I don't know. This is new for me, and many SMU fans.

We currently have one banner for conference championships and one banner for tournament appearances that list the years.

I imagine we will just "unveil" the new versions of both with 2015 added.

Does the conference championship banner includes both regular season and tournament championships since it became standard to declare the tournament champion the real conference champion?

Based on the SMU record book, it looks like the SWC Tournament started in 1974-75, but I have no idea when it changed to the new way of declaring conference champions.

Knowing how SMU tends to overcelebrate athletic accomplishments these days, I am sure we will have some sort of festivities.

I hope the players get rings for the conference championship - I think the football players received rings for bowl games???

Not a big fan of some huge festivity for celebrating conference championships...that should be the norm going forward. Add "2015" to the Conference Championships and NCAA banners, maybe include a shot of that on the intro video next year, and let that be that. I was afraid we were going to have an NIT Runner-Up banner in Moody this season- glad that didn't happen

I think that is pretty standard these days.

It should be the norm going forward but it should stop us from celebrating our first in over 20 years.

They deserve to be recognized at the first home game.

My friend Rashad's ring last year from the C-USA. Can only imagine that AAC rings will be better

Also I know that they have individual banners for conference champs in Crum practice court, but I can see them just adding the year to the current banners in Moody

That's right. All of the old individual banners are in Crum now...

I wouldn't be surprised if we have extra 2015 banners for the regular season and tournament hanging in Moody next season and then they will move to Crum.

I think you hang the conference banners and tournament banners now, and hopefully have to move them later for lack of room.

I am sure we will celebrate these two accomplishments, and hopefully bring back our seniors to do so when the students are all here to help show some love. Why not - and maybe invite some recruits to remind them we win championships at SMU.

I wish they would move them to Moody as well. It was awesome seeing all the banners at Yum.

We used to have all the banners hanging in Moody, and while it was cool to look up and see, it was also a reminder of "holy crap, we haven't done anything in a looong time." Let's get a good run of new banner-worthy seasons going to fill up the rafters!

100% agree. Each should be individual.
