but Dickerson was a rim protector already on the team. Do you like Carter more or did you see either in high school/aau?

Their all pieces of the puzzle. LB being a major piece. He brings so much in the way of instant credibility and publicity. Is he the only piece no, just a major piece to get the program off and running.

I never really liked his game but I know he is doing better at Penn State. And I know we signed him because there was no other bigs that were quality bigs out there at the time because LB got here so late. Are you saying that you did not like Yanick and Kennedy? I think that Tolert and Semi are going to be a really good tandem but if they get in foul trouble who do we go to against physical teams like Cincinnati if Kennedy does not come back?

What I'm saying is that this offseason is the time for actual SMU hoops discussion, even if it's not sunshiner. You want a rim protector, we had one. If you want to cry about big depth, remember that over the past few, LB has run off as many good bigs as he's recruited. We've made huge strides and all of us love the progress, but unlike Stallions proclamation, nothing about this feels sustainable right now. Specifically, if you've been around other programs who have actually sustained success.

We're effectively iced in DFW again. We need a new RC for the second time in two years. We await NCAA sanctions. Several of our kids who aren't draft-ready and have no draft hopes are determining their futures as agents circle. So, feel free to discuss things in a perfect world but ours is far from perfect at the moment. Discuss amongst yourselves

I believe he has only run of Dickerson. The other big kid was recruited by Doh and liked the perimeter too much for Caoch Brown from what I understand. Without Yanick and MK the program would not be where it is today. In fact I think most everyone would agree that when we got MK back from academic probation it made the team a lot better. We have had depth at the bigs position for the last 2 years and have done very well in having two post season appearances. If MK comes back we will be fine. As far as sustainably is concerned I think everyone will be able to tell over the next 2 years imo. Is Jerrance just going to get a slap on the wrist at KU or have you heard anything yet?

Hoopmanx, I generally side with you on hoops stuff but a few items here:

1) I don't agree with the inference that you are making that if we get a rim protector, they will make no greater contribution than Jordan Dickerson did. Come on, even Myles Luttman would be better than Dickerson.

2) you seem to be going out of your way to focus on the negatives. Perhaps this is because so many focus only on the positives, but still: reality lies somewhere in the middle, and I think you know that because you are pretty well-connected, so not sure why the overwhelming focus on the negative from you lately.

kind of suprised at Blaise's stat line this year for BU. Similar to Dickerson's when he was here

Ha, I'd completely forgotten about Blaise. I was thinking Dickerson, Leslee and Jalen. Bernardi would have had some use

I'm not a Dickerson apologist, he stinks as will most any true rim protector we can get at this juncture, unless we have a euro connect.. I'll take Carter or Davis, but those kids are closer to 6'7 than 6'8

I'm not being negative, I love where we are as a program. I'm just not blind to the pros and cons. This is more about what we do now than being negative. For example, Jank isn't the answer should Larry's health be in question.

I'm curious why you say Jank is not the answer. He brought us our best player and Larry credits him for implementing our defense on some of our best games.

I just read a report recently where Carter has grown a couple of inches and is now around 6'10. Maybe SMU can get another rim protector like Yanick in the 2016.

Looks like we are fighting for Temple with him amongst others.
