getting off topic. for the sake of this discussion, "Dallas" = DFW (including, but not limited to Dallas, fort worth, Arlington, Frisco, Plano, Allen, McKinney, Garland, Rockwall, Forney, Hurst, Southlake, Euless, Bedford.......)
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

back on topic, go search the Nielson ratings, and find me two schools who can deliver more to a conference in terms of set top boxes in their region (as Delaney noted, it doesn't even matter if people in the market care about the specific schools b/c there are alumni that care about the conference and in turn, the cable network) that can deliver more than SMU & Houston.

anyone at UH who thinks they're getting in the BigTx is high as a kite. so what conferences would stand to gain from us? B1G & Pac. (SEC is only other conf w a network, and they already got TX covered w/ A&M). There's currently no ACC network (other than online) that i'm aware of, but if one was put in place, we would give them reach into TX.

Pac has said they're done expanding (but things always can change), and Delany has continually said 18 is his goal. i'm betting long on B1G. it's no coincidence we have a football game w/ Michigan, Hoops games w/ Michigan & Indiana already on schedule. i'd gamble that we see a trend here going forward too.

This is the key. Temple is another school that will have a good argument, perhaps with the BIG10, moving forward if they continue to improve their football program.

That's John Crawford, head of the downtown booster organization, of course everything is great(!). I'm a big believer in Dallas, and pushing for it to be greater, and I'm an urbanist, so my focus is on the core, but there are major issues in the core and the city as a whole. No need to read some PR fluff and say everything is great and stick our heads in the sand. There are major systemic issues facing our city, which is why I say get involved.

Whoever brought up DISD, major freaking problem for Dallas, but I'm not ready to concede that as a lost cause for the city and the albatross that will bring us down as the next Detroit. Have to keep working at it. I know real estate and building cities. People smarter than me, that are more well versed on educating children are working on solutions for DISD and I will support those efforts as well.

Yay for TV markets determining realignment. Thank you Collin County...

So the fact that tenant leasing space and new construction in downtown Dallas are both at their highest levels since the 1980's is "fluff"? I'm not saying Dallas is booming but to say there is stagnation downtown is divorced from reality. There is plenty of activity going on downtown.
Back off Warchild seriously.

If I was the PAC, I'd add UT & SMU, not UT & TTech, but who am I.

DMN did an article last year that said the reason Dallas proper was not growing at past rates was due to lack of buildable space.

I had a dream that we won the national championship in the Rose Bowl . . . and I was there . . . then I spontaneously combusted due to over-excitement. Then my alarm clock went off. Best dream I've had since the one I had about me and Paula Abdul and a waterfall when I was 15. (TMI?).

Pac 12 (18) all day, baby!
