Lisa Cole's Record Tied by U of Portland Pilot

Postby MrMustang1965 » Wed Nov 16, 2005 11:18 pm

The University of Portland finally gets to play at home in the NCAA playoffs. The No. 1 Pilots (20-0-1), who won twice on the road last week, will play host to Arizona (11-7-3) on Friday at Merlo Field in the third round. UP beat Arizona 3-0 at Merlo on Sept. 23, with Christine Sinclair scoring two goals. Sinclair has 37 goals this season, which ties the Division I all-time record set by Lisa Cole of Southern Methodist in 1987.

Do playoff numbers count on such records? I'd hate to see Lisa Cole wiped out of the record book (although I also didn't realize she had the record).

To be fair, though, Sinclair is an absolutely amazing player. It certainly would be no insult to Cole if Sinclair passed her.
