Very interesting study in the WSJ assigning a value to the top college basketball programs in the country. According to the article: To calculate what a college team would be worth on the open market, if it could be bought and sold like a pro team, Brewer analyzed each major program’s revenues and expenses and made cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments and growth projections for each. #73 SMU - $30,180,000 Other AAC/Texas: #13 UConn - $111,852,000 #30 UT - $68,461,000 #35 USF - $53,938,000 #45 Memphis - $43,363,000 #54 Baylor - $38,156,000 #60 A&M - $34,958,000 #72 Cincinnati - $30,367,000 #77 Texas Tech - $29,533,000 #80 UCF - $28,523,000 #86 TCU - $24,272,000 #90 Temple - $20,327,000 #93 Tulsa - $18,268,000 #95 UH - $18,205,000 http://www.wsj.com/articles/whats-your- ... 1427903905

Most of the others seemed reasonable, but that got a raised eyebrow from me as well...

They have to estimate publicly released info versus private such as SMU

TCU is not worth 24 M. It is worth way less and so is USF and Texas Tech.

South Florida makes a decent amount of money on non-basketball events at the Sun Dome, but 35 still seems way too high.

Xavier : #20 - Aren't they the 2nd team in Cinci? Above UCLA?? Marquette: #28 above Texas? Miami: they had nearly $4M<revenues than Florida. Miami is ahead of Florida?

USF probably is calculated on student athletic fees generated that - i'm just speculating here w/o doing ANY research - are probably built into tuition. plus any public funding, advertising, alcohol sales, etc...
re: TCU/Tech - don't discount the FOX tv deal and the value of their being in the Big12. good on the court/field doesn't always = market value (see: LA clippers, Marlins, etc.)
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

also USF got payouts from the split of the Big East including NCAA BB credits-right? USF, Cincy, UCONN got more than other newer schools
