Colin Cowherd on AttendanceColin Cowherd @ESPN_Colin
College AD's say kids no longer want 2 go to games yet 99,000 peeps show up for Buckeyes spring game. Moral 2 story. Get better. Fans show.
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendanceA majority of that amount are likely mouth-breathers who couldn't spell math let alone find a class. Cowherd has a good point every once in a while, but those few points are randomly found between miles of stupid.
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendanceAnd alabama was what?
Re: Colin Cowherd on Attendance
99,000 people at a spring game...I don't care who was there, that is unbelievable. Pony up!
Re: Colin Cowherd on Attendance
Announced was 65K, that is lowest turnout for a Spring game in Sabin's tenure. When you don't when championships, no one shows up. lol GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendanceThe fact is that America loves College Football between teams with natural or historic rivalries. Those games are selling out like hot cakes ESPECIALLY in Texas. What America doesn't want to see are these ridiculous games scheduled against crème puff competition like WhatsaMatterU and Southeastern Oklahoma School for the Blind and Deaf. Those are the games that fans are rejecting. Its as if the NFL decided that their schedule was too tough so they played a couple of games against the European Football League or the CFL. Or maybe the Dallas Mavericks dropped down to play the D League Rio Grande Valley Vipers from Hidalgo. The NCAA is diluting its product and presenting an inferior product on about 20% of its games. Why? Its ridiculous
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Colin Cowherd on Attendance
Good angle, Stallion. We do have a chance to have 4 Texas rivalry games with Baylor, NT, TCU and Houston year in and year out including the chance of scheduling Tech every now and then. Of course, would be great if we played again once Morris has brought his recruits and has the team playing at a high level.
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendancePlaying the Eastern Conference is kind of like playing the D League at this point.
And if teams like the Spurs are going to rest their starters, that doesn't sound all that different from the scheduling letdown college football fans feel by having to watch their team play No Name University.
Re: Colin Cowherd on Attendance
To be fair, I thought the SE Ok School for the Blind and Deaf had gotten their program turned around and had become competitive lately.
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendanceHow did Little Sisters of the Poor do?
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendanceYou'd think tOSU had won a title or something. Wonder what the spring game attendance trend is like. It seems steady but up for the Ponies.
Re: Colin Cowherd on Attendance
That's when we join the Big12 and play all these jokers, although I'd prefer Pac16.
Re: Colin Cowherd on Attendance
Pac over Big 12-2
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendanceThink you are missing the point. How much did that spring game at OSU cost...months after a national championship that was very unlikely? THERE IS NOTHING OUTSIDE OF OSU FOOTBALL IN OHIO. I utilized that lovely caps lock function to emphasize that there truly is nothing in Ohio of any redeeming value outside of OSU football. Reminds me of, well, Alabama. And what does that foster? Crazy 50 year-old women that call idiotic SEC announcers every day yelling and end up getting death threats. Same type of crap in Ohio. Well, many of those people can't afford to attend a game. So how do they visit their Tah Mahal...they go to the spring game. Ask alumni and students from those schools that draw big in spring games whether they attend those games, and most will laugh at you. The spring game is for the guy with the middle-school GED who works his tail off daily to make ends meet and dreams to just grace the stands of the upper deck once in his life. Is it great to have that loyal a fan base? Yes. Is it a sign that anyone who states that the cornucopia of options on a daily basis for the target audience's attention might be having a detrimental impact on attendance figures? Absolutely not.
Re: Colin Cowherd on AttendanceReason I posted wasn't because I was taking a jab at our spring game attendance or anything, it was more about gameday attendance and Cowherd correctly makes the point that good teams will draw well. It's simple cause and effect. SMU is no different.
