Re: Good For a Few Laughs-Ranking Big 12 HometownsJust my opinion but Austin > FW, and it's not really close.

Re: Good For a Few Laughs-Ranking Big 12 Hometowns
Yep agreed. Nowhere in same universe really .. Although I haven't been in FW for about 15 years. (There's a reason for that -- and why I now LIVE in Austin).
Re: Good For a Few Laughs-Ranking Big 12 HometownsI agree Austin is totally overrated now, but I have only been in Ft. Worth once for a non-SMU athletic event in the past 25 years, and at dinner I saw about 15 people in cowboy hats and even a handful in FFA jackets.
Give me a bit of traffic in Austin over that any day... Shake It Off Moody

Agreed LA. Ghost is entitled to his opinion, but he should understand he's in a big minority. If Austin is so undesirable, explain why its housing costs are nearly double that of FW. IMO Austin is the best college town in the country.

I grew up in Lawrence and couldn't wait to leave. As an adult I've learned to really appreciate the town and enjoy going back to visit. A very worthy top 3. Pony up!
Re: Good For a Few Laughs-Ranking Big 12 HometownsGoing to a game at Allen Fieldhouse is on my bucket list.

Re: Good For a Few Laughs-Ranking Big 12 Hometowns
Austin is a great city but it's not a college town. No city with a population close to 2 million can be considered a college town... particularly when said 'town' is also a state capital. It's why, awesome as it is, I don't consider Madison, Wisconsin a college town - neither Madison nor Austin would dry up to nothing if the schools located in each town ceased to exist. To be a college town, the place has to basically owe its existence to the school.
Re: Good For a Few Laughs-Ranking Big 12 Hometowns
Lubbock, Waco, Stillwater, Manhattan and Norman would cease to exist if their teams weren't there. Pure dumps.
Re: Good For a Few Laughs-Ranking Big 12 Hometowns
Difference of opinion Reb, but I personally would never want to live in a city that if the school shutdown, the city would dry up. Too small time for me, especially in today's society.
