When do Things Get Rolling?I know i am being impatient and somewhat greedy, but ready to get a couple of more 3 stars and maybe a 4 star recruit in the door here in the next couple of weeks. When can we expect a bit more news? Also - any over/under guesses on how many we sign before summer? Is 10 too many to expect?
Re: When do Things Get Rolling?Waiting on NCAA report. Keep fingers crossed.
Re: When do Things Get Rolling? This is on the football board, so I assume original poster is talking about football. So I don't think NCAA investigation impacts the football recruiting.

Re: When do Things Get Rolling?SMU has the 4th most commitments of all non-BCS schools -behind Western Michigan, Florida Atlantic and Miami(Ohio). Commitments will come as some kids realize they are being slow played by BCS schools or far down their pecking order. We haven't been in better position since the DP with the offers out and the reception we are getting. SMU has 105 offers out already for Class of 2016 which is about 3 times more than June regularly had extended by May 1. We did though win 1 game last year

Re: When do Things Get Rolling?Stallion - I realize it's a new day in recruiting in a big way. This is more "Christmas morning" excitement vs annoyed that something is going slower than you thought it would.
With this staff working as they are I just can't wait to see the results.
Re: When do Things Get Rolling?
The young guy at Western one of the best recruiters and motivators in the nation, amazingly quick turnaround for that program. 1-11 his first year to 8-5 and MAC coach of the year last year. Some of the highest ranked recruiting classes in the history of the school and the conference. 14 commits already

Re: When do Things Get Rolling?
Exactly, the most important thing is the amount of quality relationships the SMU coaching staff is creating with players. SMU is still not a dream choice for most players, so creating relationships so that those players see SMU as the best option once their P5 offer gets pulled (or never offered) or realize they will be buried on the depth chart is important. It would be interesting to see a chart of G5 commits per school over time, along with 4 & 3-star commits over time per G5 school.

Texas OL Darius James tells me he's been given a release and will be transferring elsewhere. "Yes sir," he said. Was a 5-star recruit.

Re: When do Things Get Rolling?
Unfortunately, I suspect our 2016 class isn't going to be the home run we all want. The complete lack of recruiting Texas during the Tiki Era cannot be undone in a day. Morris and friends are working hard to build relationships with schools that have been recruited properly in years. Eventually, that work will be rewarded and I hope that our class ends up coming in "late" as we pick off players from weaker P5 programs or guys who realize they are Plan B or C to Big State School. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: When do Things Get Rolling?I think you are wrong-I define home run as a Top 3 non-BCS Class and a great Class as a Top 4-6 non-BCS Class. I still think SMU ends up with a Home Run-that's what great shape we are in right now. About 108 offers out. Why the panic? 3 out of 4 commits are rated 3 star by major recruiting services. The other is a great football player/leader type. Not sure if some of you know what your looking at. I'd like to remind everybody that Rivals scale right now is a pretty tough measure with only about 130 Texas high school 3+ stars. In some years past Rivals had 240 3+ stars. Texas produces about 370 Division 1A recruits. So there are a lot of great players in Texas who are not rated 3 stars right now
