I think the guy writing that list used to be the High school contributor at the Houston Chronicle-Matt Malatestra . I think in Dallas they have David McNabb. Vype is getting a lot of the laid off workers from major newspapers. They are trying to be the Rivals/Scout for high school athletics. They cover all high school sports all the time and divide each major city and/or region into a separate magazine/website like Rivals/Scout. Probably get bought out some day in the future. Interesting business concept to watch because there are a lot of fans of a lot of schools and a lot of high school sports and parents. Plus there are some partnering possibilities with other media that don't have time to cover high schools.

Not to mention the fact that recruiting is so intensely followed nowadays. Stuff like youtube and twitter make athletes popular before they even step on campus. I will be interested to see if the vype concept takes off
