Nice to see colleges like SMU and Baylor committed to Texas high School football coaches and their head coaches are born Texans proud of their Texas heritages. This compared to UT who thinks they are an international football team, ags and Houston who don't think there are any good coaches with Texas high school backgrounds and have to go out of state to hire. A lot for these recruits to consider.
Huh? Coach Morris was a great get for SMU, but it's kind of ridiculous trying to find fault in Houston hiring Herman. Although not a TX high school coach, he coached for many years in Texas and did a great job recruiting Texas kids to Ohio State. You can make rational arguments for either guy, as to who was the better hire. Future results will ultimately determine the 'winner'.
The primary concern right now is keeping up with Herman on the recruiting trail. He is killing it, even though he got a much later start than Morris and Co.
These 2 teams will be a great rivalry and should compete at the top of the conference for years to come. SMU & Houston have the Texas recruiting advantage, and UCF & USF have the same in Florida.
