I think one of the reasons we are seeing both SMU and Houston get some high quality players on the recruiting trail is that our offensive and defensive schemes promote star players.
Most teams are running the air raid style offense, which is timing based and really dilutes the impact of star players. System QBs and balance at RB and WR.
Our offense creates individual matchups that good players can win. So a stud WR or RB or QB has a chance to really shine. Same thing on defense with the "star" position. Really good players are going to want to play at both schools because they don't want to just fit into a scheme and become part of a numbers game.
